yes this is certainly gorton's team now. sather has the title of GM more as a figurehead/icon similar to the queen of england.

gorton did the nash deal and negotiates all the RFA contracts i believe. probably all the UFA contracts the past couple summers too.

Aside from the bizarre mixup with his waiver status that move was 100% defensible. I maintain that the waiver mistake wasn't Feaster's alone - if Sherman or ROR's agent had known about it then he would have either not played in Russia to begin with or have just signed Colorado's offer before offer sheets became a threat.

Believe me, I'll never say Feaster is a good GM but I approved of that move before the waiver thing came up.

If it's not a terrible contract now it almost certainly will be within a few years.

it probably will be in 3 years from now, but besides last year's fluke season for richards, he will be good for the near future.

i won't really defend that deal too much because you can definitely make an argument that it's a bad contract...but the rest of contracts on the book look pretty damn good.
