If Rangers miss the playoffs does Hank leave?
- mighty13duck

The Isles don't need a new goalie if Nabokov puts up decent numbers. Last year's series vs the Pens was wild, the games were practically played with empty nets.

I was rooting for the Isles, along with every non-bandwagon Penguins fan. It seemed like every goal was met with another almost immediately, madness.

I think Eklund got so excited to write a blog about something other than an upcoming blog he lost command of the English language. Happens to the best of us.

For me, one of the keys and why I am not that worried as a Rangers fan and blogger on this site for the team were the remarks at the Stadium Series by assistant GM Jeff Gorton. He said that some issues need to be worked out (meaning $ and years) but “Henrik wants to be here and we want Henrik…at the end of the day… it shouldn’t be too difficult to get a deal….I think we will get one done." That gives me a relative sense of confidence plus Lundqvist, after lukewarm responses right after the season ended against Boston, has been fairly clear in his statements that he wants to remain in NY.

For more on my views on Lundqvist and what type of deal I believe he may get:

Bryan Murray also had he same confidence that Alfredsson would resign. Poile thought the odds favored Suter returning to Nashville. And Lamoriello believed the same about Parise. Just bc management says "it shouldn't be too difficult" doesn't mean it won't be difficult. I'd say it's atleast 75% Lundqvist resigns in New York. But what if Lundqvist plays his usual 60-65 games but the team in front of him lets him down? What if they struggle to score under AV just like they did under the former regime? And what if they fall short of expectations and miss the playoffs? It's not an unheard of scenario. Then the doubt may creep into his mind. And the closer he gets to free agency, the better the chance he tests it. The Rangers are absolutely screwed if they lose him, so they can't sit around twiddling their thumbs and push off negotiations til after the season. They have to get it done, and quickly, bc they cannot risk their franchise player walking.

All the Ranger fans who say this isn't plausible are in denial. My prediction is if the Rangers do not make the ECF he will seek other options

Their team is painfully screwed if they lose Hank.

You have 3 good golaies already on your roster plus some young guys in the system.
- blacksheep1

Good? Yes. Great? Not so sure. An elite tender probably puts this team over the top.

If Hank goes to another team next offseason I'd worry about their ability to make the playoffs.

Hes gonna get probably 10 or 11 million per year until hes 35, then its gonna taper down.

And that is why I love Quick. Team player. Rather have a good team around him than be paid top dollar.

you cannot make this assumption yet, Hanks current cap hit is very team oriented at the moment, and nothing has really been discussed yet

He will be resigned by mid season and all Isles fans will continue to cry and think 6 playoff games compared to 32 is passing us by organizationally

someone is a little bum-hurt at the fact your goalie has questions about his organizations future.

i personally think he's sick of the rangers
- Flyfreaky

Yeah he obviously hates NY (major sarcasm) he must hate a young playoff experienced team with plenty of determination to win

trap defense and obvious overrated team who cannot score more than 2 goals per game. Got very lucky to play the terrible caps in the first round
