That gives you 15 forwards with 3.8 in capspace. After signing Jagr, Clowe, Ryder and Olesz, I think it's safe to say that this is the team you'll be running with.
Signing Brunner just takes ice time away from young future guys like Loktionov, Josefsen and Tedenby - t_leafs21
Remember, Brunner is only 27. He could very well become part of a franchise's future. Besides, JJ isn't ready for prime time and I don't think Ted is either. |

After signing Henrique Devils are still left with about $4mil left in cap space. I wonder where this puts the Devils in terms of Brunner. |

If he comes down, great. If he doesn't, Raymond. That's how i see it. |

JJ will be a prime deadline trade target again and will probably retire after this season. Signing a guy like Brunner to a 2 year deal would be ideal |

Now that we got Henrique signed, do you see the devils making an offer to Brunner anytime soon? - matty_ice_30
Without the presence of a true star player now that both Parise and Kovy are gone, I would hope they do try to get Brunner. Without that star player, it's important that they be 3 or preferably 4 lines deep in order to make up for what those guys leave behind. If they go get Brunner, they'll at least be 3 lines deep. I don't know about your guys's 4th line options. Are they any good? |

Our 4th line was one of the best in the league last year. As of now our hole is on the third line wing. It seems like they are hoping Olesz or Tedenby can claim one of those spots. |

NJ's fourth line is most likely going to be the CBGB trio (Carter-Gionta-Bernier). It's the only line that's remained in tact since the 11-12 season and they've put up some decent numbers. Unless a rookie impresses in training camp this year, I wouldn't be opposed to giving another forward a look to round out the top six just because I think Clowe is more suited for a third line role anyways. |

I was talking about Josefson. Agree on Brunner, but I would keep Jagr the whole year for Henrique, Loktionov, etc. |

Now this makes the leafs signing of Kadri that much more difficult. Great signing Devils. Kids a stud - DDM-Coga
I think Henrique is a bit better than Kadri - IMO
Kadri is only going to get a 2 yr deal @ $3m or he will be sitting at home with his Hab PJ's on. |

Cool, then it seems like if they grab Brunner they'll be a team that can run 4 good lines. It will be a good offseason if they can say they picked up Clowe, Ryder, Jagr, and Brunner. |

Having Jagr around as an influence and a vet isnt a bad idea as well, based on his playoff run I dont even know how much value you would get out of him anyways.
So what do you guys think about this Kovy saying he still wants to win a stanley cup, I am only 30 years old, I still have time nonsence he was talking about? |

It's between this off-season and 2010 as the most eventful in franchise history IMO. A lot of people seem to forget that the Devils acquired Schneider at the draft too. Just because it was the first move they made in the off-season, I think it was overshadowed by everything else they've done since. |

I sincerely hope they vote against his return and keep him out of the NHL for the rest of his career. He made his bed, now he has to lay in it.
The only other justice would be if we voted to let him return but were able to trade his rights away for the 1st and 2nd round picks that we lost in his contract's penalty. Now I'm just being petty but long story short, we don't think highly of him. |

This ^^ ...I love Marty but he's not the Marty of old and Schneider will make that position so much better then it was last year (with Hedberg) |

He's gonna come back after his contract expires and id be suprised if he gets more than 5 and a half, ESPECIALLY if he comes back to NJ. |

He'll probably wait until he's 35 then all he has to do is NOT play hockey for one calendar year and he becomes an UFA. Devils will not have his rights and the NHL can't block him.....this is what I see him doing later on. |

If he becomes a UFA, there should be some compesnsation to the Devils from whatever team That signs him. Its a unique case and he screwed a lot of people over with this move. He shouldnt get a free pass t o return. If a team wants him they not only need to pay him but almost trade for him from the Devils.
Even if was a 4th round draft pick in compesnsation. Its better than nothing |
