Hopefully for devils fans these village idiots do a better job for the devils than they did with the Sixers.. - acmilano3
Lou will still be GM and all that. That blitzer guy also said he was a Jersey boy and Harris said his moms side of the family is from PHilly and his dads from Jersey and that He has been a 76s fan and a Devils fan in hockey. Hopefully they do what they have said they will and things will be looking real good |

personally i think relocation is needed some times. Flordia doesnt and never did need two teams move one out of there, and if the yotes fail under new ownership just pack up and leave town.
Its teams with deep histroy like the islanders, devils and so on that would be a shame to move just because of current troubles that are potentially solvable - nightmare3020
Pathetic that every fan from Canada wants to relocate US based teams. Get over it or we'll take back the Blue Jays (nevermind, you can keep them!) |

As much as it would suck to see the Devils moved (and as unlikely as it seems now), there is one sort of obvious reason that the league might support moving them. The league might want to attract new fans in an untapped market. Despite the Devils having a small and loyal fan base, the market of fans that should be Devils fans are mostly either Rangers fans in North Jersey, or Flyers fans in South Jersey. If the team was moved, over time I think current members of the Devils fan base would slowly turn into either Rangers or Flyers fans, and the league would still be taking advantage of that market, despite their team being moved. - JAKEw1234
NEVER! They could move the Devils to Russia and I would NEVER root for the Rangers or Flyers. You must not understand what a rivalry is? |

And yet they continued to lose money. Even with 3 cups since 95 they have consistently lost money. They owned their own building and still lost money and now the islanders are closer and are a team finally with promise.
Tough to make an argument that the ny market should have 3 teams and TO 1. Quebec still does not have one. I would be a little hesitant about this ownership group. They have been an absolute train wreck so far with the Sixers and have not exactly been honest with their fan base.
Also, someone mentioned the Preds on here. I've been down there for a few games. Their fans are tremendous and do not have 3 cups in 18 years. - acmilano3
1. The didn't lose money, their owner mis-managed the finances
2. Not worried about the new owners ruing the team as Lou is still the man in charge
3. Quebec had a team that left so sorry, no more for you!
4. Who cares how many teams are in Toronto?
5. We have 3 Cups in 18 years and our fans are also TREMENDOUS!
6. End of story. |

I'm not advocating moving the Devils, but it does actually make sense to move them to a new market like Seattle, Portland, Quebec, Kansas City, etc. Markham actually wouldn't make sense, because a Markham team to Toronto would be like a Newark team to New York. They'd just be building on a market that they already have. - JAKEw1234
But it doesn't. They have a profitable arena and a team with a 25 year lease. It makes no sense to shell out 300 million to buy the team. 100 million (I believe) in relocation fees. Anther 200-300 million for a new arena. Buying out the current lease. All of this while devaluing the most valuable asset in the Prudential center. |

did you watch the presser ? what do you think? They seem like they want to win and what not I wonder if we see that big trade now that had been rumoured after kovy left like Vanek or Dion |

Any argument about toronto getting a second team ends with the leafs saying no. Its that simple. The devils had higher revenues than Winnipeg. It wouldn't be any different for quebec. Lots of fans? Yes. Lots of money? no. |

That's simply inaccurate. Their team debt in 2011 was over 80 million without the building. That does not include annual interest payments on the building of over 10 mill. They struggled to restructure debt incurred because of team opp ex.
They had another loan payment of 77 mill for the building. - acmilano3

Totally agree, it's much easier to move the devils than it is to rip the teams of Florida and Phoenix away from their fans. |

Yeah move them back to the city they came from before they became a success out here.

You know there is another NY-area team known as the Islanders... The fact that the Devils were bought within a week of being on the market shows their profitability. The fact that their move to Newark and new arena is completely paid off now means that the value and profits of this team will go nowhere but up from here. |

It is purely a travesty that somebody would want to buy this team and keep them in the festering hole known as New Jersey. This team will be the demise of the new owners and the team should not be relocated but rather contracted. A true curse on the NHL and all of it's wonderful fans. |

Pheonix, who has been losing millions a year, has a 5 year out clause but no, let's move the team with their own arena and leave the arena to the Seton Hall basketball team and the New York Liberty. Brilliant. |

Just watched it. Definitely seems like they are planning on making some big changes in how the organization runs. Seems like they are going to put a heavy focus on marketing more than previous owners. Whether these changes will be successful will have to be judged in the future. We probably shouldn't have to worry about finances for a while though. |

Thank God. It always bothered me that the Devils have always been so absent in garnering attention and building fans from outside our immediate area.
I know this is such a small thing, but to me it just illustrates how ignorant they are to what sells and what gets fans talking about the Devils: the green jerseys. I see them everywhere, people buying green jerseys and wearing them to the Pru. We still haven't implemented them as alternates (which would require us to wear them on a certain number of home games per year), and we inexplicably cancelled the one game we usually wear them a year. I know it sounds silly but this is the stuff that kids get excited about. People buy them, they play with them in the video games, its gets us some exposure. |

On this same thread, a lot of the gameday experience is just so ordinary. They don't take any risks at all or attempt to create an identity specific to our organization. Same generic songs playing that have been playing for the last 20 years. I hope the new ownership is more progressive and thinks outside the box. Just my two cents, because I think the Devils have a lot of potential to grow if they would ever just put themselves out there a bit more |
