I can make general statements too. Mattias Tedenby will be a top line winger for the next 12 years. Jacob Josefson will be our top line center for the next 12 years. Nothing has shown either of those to be true, nor has Henrique even come close to prove he can be a consistent 20-25 goal scorer.
- Kovaltron

I'd agree that there are a ton of general statements thrown around these blogs, and I would agree that those who think Josefson is a star in the making are more than a bit off. With Henrique, we saw how good he can be when he has a decent winger on his line. And in the OHL, when paired with Taylor Hall, he was a solid contributor, and the same can be said when he was on Canada's junior team. So Henrique at least has some body of work, whereas Tedenby and Josefson have shown nothing.

If the rumors are true i see Lou Lamoriello at the biggest cross road of his career. Does he cater to the future of the New Jersey Devils and lock up Adam Henrique... or does he pull the trigger and deal Henrique for Vanek, giving Marty Brodeur more of a chance to lock up a cup in his final year?
- mike12cambria

So according to what you're saying, the Devils could lose Kovalchuk and Henrique, add Ryder, Jagr and Vanek, and that gives them a chance to "lock up a cup?" I call that delusional.

Ryder and Jagr are deadline trade chips for a team with no first round pick. Playoffs would be a bonus but this team, especially in the new division, is not a contender right now. Build for the future without totally forfeiting the season, that is what Lou has done and will probably keep doing.

Henrique can be a UFA in as early as 4 years.

How did Zach Parise get to that point?

You are confused. First you say you would almost guarantee that Henrique is discussed in a Vanek deal. People disagree, you say you're not in favor of it, then say you're in favor, then whine about people having different opinions.

Vanek is a perfect fit for a team missing a piece or two to be a contender for the next 3-4 years. NJ can't afford losing promising/potential core players for a guy like Vanek. It's a possibility, but IMHO, Henrique is worth the wait.

so Brodeur's new mask.. with the dogs on it..
not feeling it. doesn't fit with the theme of his mask.. at all. just random dogs.. in his last year in the NHL. ? but i guess it's typical care-free Marty.

Parise and Kovalchuk make players around them better, obviously. I don't thnik you can give him a long term deal. Especially with the crop of free agents next year, that extra 1.5 million that you save on a short term deal could be re-invested elsewhere. Especially with the money coming off for Brodeur, Jagr, Zidlicky, and perhaps Volchenkov

Henrique is a part of this organization going forward.
- TheJerseyDevil1

Just like Parise, Gomez, and Gionta were?
I like Henrique but if the right deal comes along and he's part of it then i wouldn't be too upset about him leaving.

Dude he has played 1 and a half seasons in the NHL and was a Calder runner or or finalist he had a so so second year how much more could he have proofed that he has potential and leadership. The fact that he scored 2 big goals in the playoffs also means he is clutch and also doesn't have anything to do with him almost winning the calder. He would have had to of scored 25 in his rookie season and the pro rated 25 goals in this season is basically what you are saying.

So why are we trading a 23 year old for a 29 year old seems smart ? I wouldn't trade Henrique straight up for Vanek let alone add in additional pieces to make it work and that's not even taking into account he has one year left at 7 something million and will be looking for exactly that or more to resign. for a player that doesn't create any offense on his own just cleans up garbage in front of the net. Ill take Henrique and what he could be over a player that will be in his prime for 3-5 more years.

Honestly idk why it's crazy to offer him 3.5 per year for 3 years. If he wants more, screw it.. we have the money. 4 mil for 4 years. like it's that big of a difference for what will most likely be a top 2 center for us.

No, we should ship him off for a sexy rental player because we have a fantastic track record of keeping pending UFA's! Don't you know anything?!

Your logic is based on uncertainty. Ask all the GM's in the league if they would take a proven commodity over an unproven one. If Lou loved Henrique so much and thought he was a sure fire top line player he would have been signed already.

I don't want to lose Henrique for nothing tho, if Vanek doesn't re-sign.

But would GMs rather have a somewhat proven commodity for the foreseeable future over a proven commodity for 1 year, especially when that proven commodity doesn't even make you a top contender?

Dude Mackinnon is unproven but Colorado would never trade him straight up for Vanek so your theory is kind of flawed.

Some people just have unwaivering faith in Lou & certain high-profile players.

You're not allowed to question Lou or imply that those players are going to leave or aren't somehow the best player ever!

For reference just look at how some people on this site reacted to the Parise debacle. There will always be apologists for popular players & anything statistical, logical, or mere opinion that goes against their train of thought is considered heresy & stupid or illogical.
