Todd Cordell: Calgary Flames Sign Chris Breen To One-Year Deal - Todd-Cordell
Back to the topic at hand....Breen has an outside shot at making the team, as does Wotherspoon. I suspect one or both will spend significant time in the NHL next season if the Flames suffer a few bad injuries on D. I look forward to seeing what he can do! |

I would like to see this guy get a real shot at the big club. a little lanky still at only 227 on a 6'7" frame, but that is a big wing span out there.
Carson is crap, Smith is a journeyman at best, Curdari is unproven.
Something like this
Brodie- SOB
Gio- Wideman
Cundari- Breen
Smith
edit, forgot about Butler and Russell (not on the Flames website roster ) yea, he will have a tough time making the big squad

If Breen can't make this makeshift line up at 24 maybe we and he should move on. |

I hope he makes it. He has started to play with a nastier edge as the years have gone. It wohld be nice to have scary D again.
Wotherspoon I really like but I hope he does a year in Abby with call ups. |

Don't forget Seiloff and Ramage and possibly even Kanzig. Out of the tree I think Seiloff has a really good shot at making it. Ramage could fly under the radar but will most likely end up with the heat for at least a season. Kanzig looked great in the last scrimmage and could draw some more attention in camp and pre-season. Also, he's 6'6" and 238lbs |

Sieloff has the best chance. Ramage should be in ahl, and Kanzig should destroy some junior kids for one more year. |

Agreed, I really liked what I saw in Seiloff, He hits, he agitates, he's strong defensively and on the puck and is willing to take it up on the rush. |

Wotherspoon is the best D prospect and has the best chance to make the big team in the fall. |

Like I said, don't count out Seiloff. Has just as much potential as Wotherspoon. Played for the spitfires last year, played on the World Junior Gold medal winning american team, really impressed in the camp. |

Does anyone think we will name a captain this year? or go with three alternates?
either way, who should wear letters?
Im not sold on either gio or glencross, unless it's a rotating system. |

maybe Kanzig wil rub off on breen. if those two could play with some edge. That would be a nasty pair to get in front of the net with. |

wotherspoon will be a gio 2.0, old reliable.
Seiloff I think could become a more mobile Regher. Something that the hemskys of the world hate to run in to. |

Guys, Seiloff is going back to junior and will be a leader on team USA for junior tournament. He is only 19! Flames aren't the oilers so we will let our guys develop properly. |

That would be best for him. What do you project our opening night roster/ lines look like? assuming we make no trades or no FA signings. |

Exactly. Wotherspoon will get a good look but a year down in Abbey under Ward is exactly what the kid needs. There will be injuries & he may get called up at some point during the year. Seiloff doesn't even have an ELC yet, so no, one more year in junior for sure. Breen will get a good look, doubt he bumps Russell or Butler or Cundari. Don't think Ramage is ready yet either. Most of these kids need to get the next level in the AHL & injuries will dictate anytime in the big show. I dont see Smith being around next year, Butler has a 1 year show me contract & could be traded or just gone depending on his performance this year. The following year will probably be the beginning of Wotherspoon & Seiloff, maybe Kanzig getting a serious look on the big team. JMO! |
