I know all you islander fans have been bashing the devils but honestly the Devils could EASILY finish ahead of the Islanders this year. Much better goaltending, better defense, and outside of your first line a comparable offense. I suggest you make the playoffs back to back years before trolling on the Devils.

How could Henrique NOT be involved if the Devils pull off getting Phaneuf?

I guess the bottom line that you can't have the team identity be the farewell lap for a 42 year old goalie and a bunch of spare parts hoping to gel in order to not get embarrassed. While I'd love to not give up Henrique, building a team from Schneider and Phaneuf outward is a better blueprint for future success than a messy hodgepodge of B-minus players (most of which are overpaid).

This. Dion is the closest thing to Scott Stevens the NHL has to offer. End of story. Wouldn't be at all surprised if thats why luo wants him. this is around the same age Stevens became a devil.
- Jay Uller

Weber is the closest to Stevens. The odd open ice hit was a small part of his game and is for Dion as well. Take that away and Weber and Stevens play the rest of the game similar, even built similar.

The comparable for Dion and Stevens begin and end at open ice hits which those two are not the only ones in history to do anyways.

Of the players Dion is comparable through history, he is a better version both offensively and offensively. He's not as good as some think, and not as bad as others think.

He's a top D in today's current crop for sure even if he is not comparable to some of the all time greats, he is among the best of his generation.

Don't forget, When Stevens was Phaneuf's age, he was a lot closer to Dion than Weber is. Stevens started his career an offensive blueliner.

Elias, Henrique, Larsson, Ryder, Schneider, Greene, Zajac. You can say they wont make the playoffs this year but don't act like they don't have some good players.

I am hearing a trade Could happen with Buffalo, Montreal and the Oilers, with the Habs getting Ryan Miller and Vanek, Carey Price going to Edmonton and the Sabres getting an Oilers foward, Gionta and first rounder McCrossen. Sounds like a good deal all around.

You forgot the rickroll link. I do not see that anywhere on tsn or the oilers official site. MacT is a miracle worker if that deal does happen.

Phaneuf is a second pairing defenceman who's paid like a top 3 NHL defenseman.
- Scooby_Doo

ah... yes.. and if there's anything Canuck fans know about it is large contracts and overpaid players....

how's that CAP space workin' out for you?

I love when people quote stats that are objective and rely on a "home team" scorer.
- Scooby_Doo

exactly... or opinions that are sold as facts... like Schneider is top 3 in the league, Luongo is top 3 in the league... stuff like that ...

you know... Vancouver has two of the top 3 goalies in the league.

those "home team" opinions -... they're bullpoop.

You forgot Kesler is a top line center who can score 30+ whenever he wants. (I guess he doesn't want to though) Exactly what I have read here from Van fans.

Schneider won't be traded for less than Eberle or Hall +. Remember that one LOL?

When has a big trade ever happened on a normal Sunday morning/afternoon?
Very little movement happens on Sundays

and by normal I mean not leading into the draft or trade deadline.

Dion Phaneuf was traded on a Sunday.
