Well, it was Jim Nill, but Ruff will definitely reap the rewards of an agressive GM.

None of which were drafted high and were pegged as a potential "star" player before playing one nhl game.

Its an entirely different scenario.

I think Mr. Pegula is going to have to re-think that stance, if it's true.

For the benefit of his team going forward, he may have to eat some $.

Wake up, Terry.

Actually, let's hope this pisses him off so much, he fires the GM!

- Powerslave

I said it last night, we will have to eat some salary along with younger guys we get for Vanek and Miller, whether we trade them as a package or individually.

I'd be genuinely pissed if this was the case.
Don't feed me lines that money isn't an issue with this club and our goal is to win a Stanley Cup.

If to make our club better means we need to eat salary...do it

They didn't ditch Kessel or Seguin, they made choices to make deals that in the case of Kessel bettered their team and with Seguin didn't weaken them whatsoever while staying within the cap. Sometimes you need to make choices on who you keep, do you keep Seguin or Rask, the Bruins choose Rask.
- BigStew

What?

They didn't need to trade Seguin to sign rask. They just signed iginla to six mil.

They traded him because he wasn't developing fast enough. The Kessel trade was poop for them considering they lost their best piece of the deal (Seguin). Eriksson is a fantastic player but Boston is worse now than they were last year.

Wouldn't that mean they are doing a great job at developing young players then?

So Im back from Canada after a week. Finally have internet and full time cell service.

What I know: Gerbe bought out, Ellis resigned. 2 d-men drafted first round. A center and that Bailey kid second. Sulzer resigned. Nobody picked up in FA and we basically missed that boat once again on anyone good.

Anything else?

Sad when the only thing your GM is striving for is a top 3 pick or the top pick in the draft next year.

I said they can't develop star talent. Kessel, Thornton, and Seguin all speak volumes to that.

Thornton they didn't give up on but i think it says a lot that he's had his best years since leaving Boston. And when he was already 30.

There's obviously something about the orginization that stunts "star" talent.

Looking forward they need to make decisions based on cap, Seguin is going to get paid and I don't think they can afford him long term. Iginla is a 1 year contract, not 5 to 7 years they would have to give Seguin on his next contract.

I guess we just differ on how we look at what Boston is doing.

Seguin is 5.7

He's a fantastic player. That's not an unreasonable contract for a fantastic 21 year old player.

Bruins got worse and they abandon anyone that doesn't fit into their "we are bruins this is how we do things" mentality.

Their system stifles production. I don't kno show you can't see that. There hasn't been one top tier point scorer on the bruins since Thornton left.

Obviously it worked out for them, but its still a fact.

I disagree. How else do you get a legit top 3 pick/player? They don't really get traded all that often.

When the season is going like crap, everyone calls for the team to tank. Now that the tank is in full swing for next year, everyone is shocked and pissed.
