I think Hamilton will see good minutes next year, he will need a bit of protection but Boston has enough good dmen to do that.

I never said he wasn't good. I said I'm not worried about his offensive production.

From an offensive standpoint he's basically a side grade to Seguin. I the last full season Seguin had 67 points and eriksson had 71.

He's a more rounded player thats better right now.

Jealous.

Living in CT I get to talk about Boston more than I get to talk about the sabres

How?

Because they improved as a team. And won the cup. Maple leafs missed the post season.

You don't think Boston would have been better with Kessel than Seguin and Hamilton ?

Especially considering Hamilton wasn't even in the league when the bruins won their cup and as you said, Seguin only played 13 games with 7 points.

No that's not what I'm saying. Your implying these trades didn't make them a better team. That's not true, and their record/prospects/finals appearances disagree with you. If your talking about an immediate impact than sure Boston could have been better with Kessel, but they have turned Kessel into

Louie Eriksson
Dougie Hamilton
Joe Morrow
Reilly Smith

That's a win for Boston

Considering 3/4 of those players are hardly nhl regulars I'd say we'll have to see about the future.

I was referring to their two stanely cup appearances. Boston would have been a better team with Kessel. They were a great team without him, they would have been even better with him.

It's impossible to say that their record got better because they traded Kessel. Ty were a good team that performed well. I don't see how adding another skilled scoring winger to the mix wouldn't have helped.

It's very possible that in the future this will be a win, but I was never under the impression Boston was looking to win an other time but now. Chara isn't getting any younger.

You can't necessarily assume that...
If they keep Kessel, they've gotta pay him and prob don't have cap room to bring in Horton & Peverly, who both played a big role for them

Possibly. That's started to get a little theoretical though

I'm gonna drop it, didn't mean to seem so argumentative.

I guess I just really wouldn't have traded Seguin. How many players have the most points on the team in their second full year? Especially ones playing outside their position and on a very good very talented team

Something big has to be brewing with Miller/Vanek and another dman going out.
If I had to speculate which dman , I would say Myers coupled with either Miller or Vanek going to St. Louis or somewhere further west.
Something big is brewing with Buffalo. Darcy's a douche but he can not possibly be that inept to go into the season with Miller and Vanek still on the roster and risk injury to both and then get nothing.
The time is now if he Darcy has any common sense.

This is the face of suffering I guess; it's going to be a long Summer.

I'm actually not that upset about the sabres lack of moves. I liked the draft and I'm excited to see the kids play /shrug. Not expecting much more than that.

Someone said that Boston has given up on Hamilton already (abandoned him). Not sure how they could come to that conclusion when he played the first half the year in the OHL and is only 19 or 20 years old.
- BigStew

I think they meant it because he only played 7 games in the playoffs this year.

But just like Seguin during their cup season, he wasnt a regular. Julien seems to not want to play rookies in the playoffs

I disagree. How else do you get a legit top 3 pick/player? They don't really get traded all that often.

When the season is going like crap, everyone calls for the team to tank. Now that the tank is in full swing for next year, everyone is shocked and pissed.

- keptupl8

Bulls$$t rebuild or not, you should not strive to lose or get the best pick possible next year, you ice a team that can compete while in a rebuild. Adding a player or 2 yesterday would have helped. Only in Buffalo is it exceptable to lose and try for a number 1 pick.

they're not striving to lose. they're developing players while shedding "win now" players because that's what everyone does in a rebuild. out with the old, in with the new.

you can't have it both ways in that the sabres keep everyone and keep winning or trade everyone and keep winning. losing will happen in the reshuffling of the deck.

you have it both ways by being upset and angry the entire time. everyone that you disagree with understands your frustration but just keeps cool most of the time because 1.) it's just a game 2.) life has difficulties and when they happen complaining constantly gets you labeled a whiner because you're loudly complaining when everyone else is just dealing with it 3.) it's so easy to complain about things, people that want good things for this team know that management isn't going anywhere and are just going along for the ride and hoping darcy can pull something off or gets fired later because we literally have no other recourse in this matter.

we all bleed blue and gold, so let's just admit to ourselves that the situation is awful right now, regardless of reasons why we got there, which there are many, and just hope things turn around sooner than later and we can be proud of the squad in front of us once again.

Nor am I to be honest. The draft was extremely solid and could turn out to be Darcy's best. I am only disappointed that Miller and Vanek are still on the roster. I am excited to see the kids play as well, but the past couple of weeks have been a real eye opener in regard to our rebuild; it's going to take at least 2-3 seasons until we're really to compete again and that's frustrating. Regardless, I am excited for new faces and a new young core.

Made no sense that he wouldn't take salary back, you can't trade $13M and not expect to take some salary back.
