so what happens when they win the cup..
just like did without Kessel, thorton - gerbe75pts
And if they had Kessel. You could make a very real argument that they would have two cup wins, not just two appearances. |

Eriksson has hit 70 twice in his career.
I'm not worried about his offense. |

So, you're saying if the bruins had Kessel instead of Seguin and Hamilton those final appearances would have gone worse for them?
Really?
I don't know how what I'm saying is being construed as "Boston is a poopty team" - Putzfrau
They literally just beat Kessel and the Leafs in the playoffs.
They won a cup a year after the trade. What difference does it make? |

I'm saying they would have been better with him.
They trade didn't make them better.
They are a good team that's making trades that didn't make them better. Bruins could have won a cup without Kessel Hamilton or Seguin.
I'm just saying they would have been a better team in this past finals and in the previous if they had Kessel.
Tey gained essentially nothing tangible right now with that trade. |

they traded kessel because of cap issues too. they've done what they've had to in order to win. i'm sure in some ways they didn't want to trade seguin but now they have ericksson and iginla so good for them. they still have bergeron and krecji as centers. seguin flys out there but when they won the cup he was too new to be impactful and this playoffs he was okay but not great. in the long run they probably got a little worse but with those two guys on wing they'll be ok. |

I never said he wasn't good. I said I'm not worried about his offensive production.
From an offensive standpoint he's basically a side grade to Seguin. I the last full season Seguin had 67 points and eriksson had 71.
He's a more rounded player thats better right now. |

I NEVER SAID THEY WON'T BE OKAY
It's like I'm literally being ignored.
A team can be good, but make trades that don't make them better.
I think Boston is a fantastic team that has traded away two potential stars with a massive offensive upside... And their biggest problem is their offense.
No one will argue Boston doesn't have a good defense. Doesn't have good two way centers. They need to score. They don't do that often.
My argument is that both the Kessel trade and this trade made the, worse. I'd argue that if Boston had Kessel their sc victory wouldn't have been an "upset" and they would have been favorites. I'd argue that with a scoring winger like Kessel they would have been favorites last year too. |

You just said 10 minutes ago that Seguin played a "major role" in their cup runs
They also have Hamilton who is a future 1-2 defensemen.
They flipped Seguin and got a really nice return. I'm not sure where your going with this anymore? |

I said he was a fan favorite, I should have clarified.
My point was i think Seguin is a fantastic player, a potential super star if he plays his cards right.
Your point seems to be "well it doesn't matter they are still good"
And you'd be right. But They could be better. |

Someone said that Boston has given up on Hamilton already (abandoned him). Not sure how they could come to that conclusion when he played the first half the year in the OHL and is only 19 or 20 years old.

In retro spect they made a good choice playing Krug, I honestly didn't thnk he'd work out.
But I woulda played Hamilton in a handful of games while ference was injuries, he had a good year, I think he deserved it, or a least deserved a taste of playoff hockey. |

I think Hamilton will see good minutes next year, he will need a bit of protection but Boston has enough good dmen to do that. |

No worries, should have been more clear.
Just seems weird you can't be remotely critical of Boston without getting the "well they went to two finals" argument.
