For next Season, they're $1,053,522 over the $64.3M Upper Limit using the bonus cushion.
- MJL

All they have to do is trade Meszaros, and not take any salary back and they are close to 3 million under. And once the season starts they can place Pronger on LTIR and have plenty of cap space to work with.

cooter can shut down players like Malkin NOW
Coburn is a swap for bogosian
read is the next martin st. louis NOW

- 2Real

Yes, Cooter will go on to compete for a Selke. I agree with that. Coburn isn't a swap for Bogosian? Coburn shouldn't even be allowed to skate on the same ice as Bogosian and Coburn is 6 years older than him. Read isn't the next Martin St. Louis, you're over valuing him. I could potentially see him being as good as Patrick Sharp, but that's a stretch, and seeing as Read is 27 I think he's reached his potential and what we see is what we'll be getting for the next however many years.

Yeah. I think his cap hit is 4 million. Or in that range. Good deal for Isles.

Correct. With Pronger on LTIR we have about 4.6 in cap space.

Do they have enough room if they drop Mez and sign gagne for around 2?

Are we operating comfortably?

The Flyers need to avoid placing Pronger on LTIR as long as possible.

Not a bad idea.

I just have concerns with both personally. Kane has big maturity questions and is a liability in the D zone too often. Bogosian has the injury concerns at such a young age.

- flyer_nutter

Those are valid concerns, but I think (Patrick) Kane has supposed maturity issues as well but he just won the Cup and the Conn Smythe to boot. I don't think his rumored problems rank up with maturity issues like Crosby, Phanuef, and Subban have.

Love the Emery signing ... great value, and the guy should be motivated as hell for a big contract if he has a good year.

No Ryan, eh? That's okay ... I think Homer still has something brewing.

Yes we wouldn't even have to drop Mez to sign Gagne for 2 mil.

They will have to do it during the season at some point. Before the trade deadline. Can't be operating within a million bucks of the limit. Doesn't give you much flexibility to improve the team in season.

For the near future, if they want to bring on another player such as Gagne, they have to make some kind of move. Not really seeing how Gagne fits right now.

Emery on TSN:

(roughly)

Excited to go back to Philly. In contact with a lot of people from organization. Wants another shot to be a #1, and its obvious Crawford is that guy in Chicago. Excited about the team the Flyers will have.

It all depends on what they want to do. And how soon it is determined that players such as Couturier, Schenn, and Laughton won't make certain bonuses in their contracts. They need to avoid putting Pronger on LTIR if they can.
