I like Dion more than most. He gets a bad rap because of his contract.
If Rutherford covets Phaneuf, it can happen.
As far a Toronto replacing him, I don't think it's as urgent as you obviously think.
Leafs are still developing, get a great young player and keep moving.
They get goaltending and they will make the playoffs again next year.

That'd then make it almost impossible for them to get in under the cap... They need good, low cost assets who can step in now unless there's a salary dump involved

Myers is a big name only based on his rookie season. He's looked so bad since then. And his contract is terrible. Dion Phaneuf is so much better than him.
