What do you thnk of the Joacim Eriksson signing? I have been following him very closely and he in my opinion has worked his way up to a Markstrom talent. I am hoping in training camp he can win a job as backup and then push Cory for his job. He was once a flyer draft pick and I have him on my fantasy keeper team. - flyerdude17
I honestly know very little of him, but his stats in the SEL look great, if he has anywhere near the upside that Markstrom does then I think everyone in the organization will be pleasantly surprised. |

My condolences - Reveen
I moved out for the money.. worked in the patch and discovered how unhappy Albertans are,, so i moved to BC for the spring/summer. Seriously though, nothing against Albertans, but you guys are by far the most Americanized Canadians. It's completely different back east. People just seem happier there. |

There is Z E R O chance he signs long term in EDM. He is a flashy, materialistic, "I like to go out on weekends to fancy clubs and restaurants" kind of guy from Quebec. I am not sure if Edmonton is the last place on earth he would want to live, but it's very close.
It would be a dream on the ice, but Letang's DNA does not jive with d'Edmonton...as they call it in Quebec.
p.s. I love the Oilers and was born in Edmonton...I just live in Montreal and I know the opinion of EDM here...which of course I disagree with. - JLO961

Staal got the 8th overall and Sutter.
Letang will get much more.
If the Oilers want him, their 7th, Gagner and Klefbom is minimum requirement.
They won't pay it. They already have JS who will himself be a Norris candidate in a few years.
Look for the Canes, Wings, Stars and Sens to make a major push for Letang. |

Our first, MPS and Klefbom for a guy who will eat up all our cap space and will hardly play any games.
You really want a big name guy bad. How about developing these guys and having some depth and cap room to sign Nuge and Yak or Shultz in a couple yrs. - yaktalksback
How about our first, MPS and Hemsky. Pittsburgh has depth on D so do not need Klefbom.
A Norris candidate Dman is worth 7 mil. It would be amazing to secure the services of Letang longterm and not give up one of our fab 5. |

We don't need another C. If I'm Shero I ask for Eberle as a starting point, and the two GM's go from there - matt1396
Eberle is signed for six years, Letang has one year left... if Eberle is the starting point, the end point is well in favour of the Oilers end of the field. It's Letang + for a long term signed Eberle with no NMC. |

the problem every team who wants letang will have to match what the canes will give up and they desparately need a letang. the 5th overall pick can be jagr 2.0 for them and they'd throw in a roster player like tlusty, faulk, etc..
Oil have to overpay to get letang. how bold is mac t? canucks almost won the cup on the back of their pp until the finals. can the oil do the same? |

Any deal for Letang will almost be guaranteed to have an extension attached. In that case Eberle does not equal Letang. Last 80 or so games he is a PPG defenseman... and is still improving. Not only that he is key to the transitional game for the top lines of whatever teams he is going to be on, it is quite evident what he does on the Pens.
Eberle is close to a PPG forward... usually d-men of Letang's calibre are worth more so I would politely object and say the Oilers would be adding a piece, not necessarily a big one.
Maybe these pieces start it off:
Letang, Engalland

Eberle, Smid |

I'm hoping that we don't trade for Letang. Our 1st, Klefbom and, Paajarvi is a huge price to pay for one guy. He's elite offensively but piss poor defensively. Not to mention he's wanting close to 8 million a year. He's not worth that kind of money in my books. |

Letang is so much better for a fantasy hockey team then a real hockey team. I will pass thanks. His cost would be way too much. My reassurance is how rarely any suggestions on this site ever come true. I am expecting Letang to eventually come to terms with Pitts, Gagner with Oilers, and Vinnie will sign with Detroit. We will also retain 7th overall and take a forward or defense. |

Other than the idiocy of some of the projected deals, I don't mind having Letang. I don't think it takes Eberle and Klefbom and the 2013 1st +++++.
I can see the one post where Hemmer is included...plus MPS and 2nd pick in 2013 for an extended Letang.
I like the thought:

Proposed Trade:
From Pens:
Letang (dependent on long term deal)
Tyler Kennedy (his rights)
From Oilers:
Eberle
Klefbom
2013 First Round Pick
Gives the Oilers the PP Quaterback D-Man plus Kennedy someone they have liked for a while.
Pens get a winger to replace Iginla, another young D-man to replace Letang, and finally a really good Defensive or Offensive Prospect. Thoughts? - crebar

I know, Pens get 3 high end to potentially elite talents, Edm gets some bottom 6 player's rights and a high end, semi one dimensional, Dman

Still think this was a mistake by CAR. They had PIT by the balls. |
