we're relatively deep in defensive prospects. at least in relation to forward 'prospects'.
not at all to say we couldn't use another or that it'd be a bad choice. just that it's not at all as ridiculous to select a big power forward as I can tell you think it might be

They're not really "prospects" if thier playing for the big club though....are they.

If Nurse and Ristolanain are both gone by 11, I'd love to see the Flyers take Fucale. One of these days they'll pick the right goalie....maybe.

none of them are currently, or have ever played for the big club. so yes, that's exactly what they are at present

heard about nichushkins apparent attitude problem as he didn't train for the combine and made no excuses about it either.
id more like to know how his interviews went. i personally don't give a fuk about how good he is at the standing long jump.

but what's really convinced me to get on the nich train is his ridiculous acceleration and top speed for such a huge kid. his reach and strength on the puck even when being hassled is pretty unbelievable too

I was refering to Nishkinin........ and the Oilers need for more "forwards prospects" down in OKC

he is a prime prospect what edm needs. not saying edm doesn't need nurse or ristolainen, but can't pass up on such a force or talent. supposedly a russian rick nash like comparable.

my goodness...letang prefers leafs if no go in pitts. who's expendable in toronto if they acquire letang? edm and toronto can make a trade?

the oilers need more players capable of playing and making an impact in the nhl than we do more guys on our farm team.

of course it's not completely ideal for your pick to go back to the K instead of playing in the AHL if he in fact wasn't ready for the show.
but i cant say that would influence my decision on who to pick one bit. especially if i thought he was gonna be the best available player in the long run.
( it didn't influence the oils decision to draft klefbom even though he made it clear he was gonna stay in Sweden for another 2 seasons.)

the K is a pro league and he'll furthur develop with another year of hockey regardless of where goes.

If we were able to get Nichkuskin, Barkov, Monahan or Ristolainen, it would be a good 7th pick IMHO!

Not gonna lie boys I like nischuskins size and power and that he fills the LW void for us but I'm a bit torn. Not sold entirely sold on him. I think at 7 I want monahan, ristolainen or nurse.

not sure he's as shifty as nash, but totally a comparable skater and protects the puck beautifully.

but of course i really don't know for sure. along with as much reading on him as possible, ive only seen 3 or 4 full games of his in the world juniors, some highlights of him tearing up the under 18's and a few youtube packages.
im sure our scouts have a far far more educated opinion of how good he is than I

if he is lined up with gagner and yak, i think edm will be bleeding goals. say nic-nuge-ebs, hall-gagner-yak maybe better.

oilers don't make the playoffs without a better bottom 6 and better defensive depth from top to bottom. add that and they make the dance. don't add it all then you need a new #1 which isn't going to happen. If crow can win a cup, so can dubnyk.

oilers should deal this pick for help now. they have enough potential super stars. adding another young player, in this case not a "can't - miss" one, is too risky. these kids will just learn to lose if they don't start winning.

package the damn pick for an impact proven player.

If we draft Domi at #8 I will boycott the whole season. That would be a ridiculous reach. Especially when you have a pic 8 spots later where he should still be available.

agreed. nichushkin is my pick if available and we're unable to move the pick for immediate help.
but we should be looking to move for an experienced top 4 dman first and foremost.
the unknown value of just how much that 7th as the main piece is actually worth is what the real problem is with guessing at who to target.

im not sure how moving for a dman that's even as old as 30, instead of drafting an 18 year old question mark hurts us long term? we want guys who can make an impact in the nhl. that's the goal. a quality 30 year old is that and could do that for the next 6-10 years.

"As it stands the AHL will allow players from Europe and NCAA hockey programs to play while under the magic age of 20".

nikita filatov came from overseas and played in the A at 18.

did the rules change without my knowledge?

I know that it applies to chl players, but I didn't think it did with American collegiate or euro league players

- hugefemale dog77

You are correct, that 20 years old rule only applies to CHL players. Tatar came over at 18 years old and had the choice to play in the CHL or AHL the year he was drafted and he chose the AHL.

If Drouin is available at number 7 MacT had better jump all over this guy. Clutch written all over him.

Nichushkin has attitude problems. He's gotta suck up the smaller pay check n take a season in the AHL. If he's not good enough to make the NHL, he should develop to the NA game. Don't want a radulov. Take Ristolainen before Nich, please and thank you.
