You put Bryz behind a solid defensive system that limits odd man rushes and gives him good looks at the puck, he will be fine. |

I like bryz... Would have made a great backup for reimer but im happier with bernier.
For a cheap experienced backup i dont think the oilers will find someone better.
Actually, Dubnyk could be a descent backup for a Bryz. More of a 2a 2b split |

In other words you put Bryz anywhere except in the Oilers..... |

There's a reason Philly hasn't had a good goalie in years. They have a terrible goalie system. It's a gongs how over there. Not like Philly manages to get a bust of a goalie every trade/signing/draft. They ruin the goalies they have

I dont think it would be good for Bryz to go to edmonton not because of Bryz but because of Edmonton. he doesnt need another team that lacks defensive support.
Bryz is not half as bad everyone thinks. this will be a bounce back season for him mock my words - dopemor
OK, you asked for it so allow me to mock your words.
Bryz is probably worse than most give him credit for as most people believe he still has talent, just lacking confidence. I think he lacks both. Also tinman - no heart. what a combo!!! |

Emery had to go to the KHL before he was given a chance to back up in the NHL again. If your comparisons stand, why wont he end up there too? |

Richard Cloutier: Bryzgalov to the Oilers? - Maxbone
What Horcoff discussions?
The ones that suggest he may not be directly bought out?
There are options there duder; I kind of wish you'd have raised that earlier in your sweeping pronouncements on the subject. Hey, if you're right about this and nothing is there (IE: cover a portion of his outgoing contract) then hat-tip to you good sir on the clairvoyance. |

I think there are only two places for Bryzy.....Phoenix if Mike Smith doesn't re-sign or the Islanders, who will get him cheap and thank their stars. He should go away for a year to the KHL, make a ton of money, then take the Emery path back to respectability (one year contracts, keeping under the radar, waiting for the moment to shine, prove yourself a good team-mate, etc). Don't feel sorry for him...he made $40 million for 2 years of work in Philly. And his contract is was not nearly as bad as, say, Vinnie's in TB.... |

Speculation was Bryz hated the coach, was a very different guy from Tippett. If that's the case I would certainly welcome Bryz to the Oil with Eakins at the bench. |

You take discounts to be on proven winning teams that's why.
And you don't give other players ridiculous contracts on the team that they can compare it too. |

I might rather bet on him to be good than any other goalie in free agency. If you can buy low, I dont see why not. |

Because he doesn't have chronic hip problems like emery had.
He'll find a home in the NHL somewhere. |

You're a goalie...shouldnt matter about the coach, you have 1 job, stop the puck!!!! I played net and not once ever cared who my coach was, obviously pro would be a lot different...but come on...you're goalie........you have literally ONE job!!! lol |

He doesn't need the money, so i dont know why he would go to the the KHL for it. |

I am not a fan of Bryz and I think there are better goalies, and better people out there.
Having said that, he did great in Phoenix. They say the Phoenix goalie coach is not only a good coach but has some good sports psychology to deal with these nut-cases (show me a goalie that is "normal" I will show you a flying cow). I would not be surprised if Mike Smith suffered if he left Phoenix.... and it is not "only" defensive talent, it is something else...
So, back to the point, maybe Bryz is an idiot, maybe Bryz has many stupid moments but he can stop a puck, maybe he has not been coached or "managed" (in all his craziness) properly by Philly.
For 1 Mill I would give him a shot and put him on a tight leash. - EdEagle
Is Sean Burke still the goalie coach in Phoenix? If so... tell Eakins (or better yet Ingrid) to get the recruiting talks going. He could be Dubie's Mr Miagi. |

A proven player that could possibly steal us 4 games that Khabby couldn't...
But (frank) it lets sign someone who is media friendly who is below average. |
