He got huge money his whole carreer. he already said he wants to go for a cup. I can't imagine a contender paying him $4.5M. I'm pretty sure we have a shot bringing him back.....but Bylsma would have to be wiser this time otherwise don't bother bringing him.
- Orpik44

I just can't see him, after making 7 mil his entire career, taking anything less than 3.5 mil. My thought is, if Iginla signs with the Pens, Dupuis is gone. Which would you rather have??

Can he skate fast, check and score occasionally?

At least we got a guy we can actually use in the future.

- Orpik44

He's a pretty good skater actually, but the other facets of his game are unremarkable. Maybe he takes another step, but if not he's fine for yeoman's work.

He's coming to bite you. I can see him starting something against the Flyers. Hopefully he takes Rinaldo to school.

I'll be interested in what the Backstrom cap hit is. The Wild are pretty tight against the cap, and still have not signed Clutterbuck. With the Wild not being able to buy out Heatley because he's injured, Clutterbuck may become a cap casulaty.

It's hockey karma. I'm fully prepared for him to score a goal against us his first game back, then board one of our guys into an injury.

Wow, 3.42 mil cap hit for Backstrom. That's a pretty good deal. They still are going to lose either Clutterbuck or Spurgeon. Not being able to buyout Heatley is killing them right now.

That's a steal but I think we will be surprised by some of the lower hits this season because the salary cap is going down so dramatically.

That's the only one so far.

Gonchar 5 mil a season

Strait 5.25 mil a season

2 good examples.

They still have to resign Justin Faulk who is a RFA. I would take either Clutterbuck or Spurgeon here. Yes, great cap hit for Backstrom. He took a hometown discount to make it work - otherwise, they would have been in trouble.

Another option in net for Philly gone. I see them keeping Bryz more and more.

Hopefully they'll land Luongo for a couple young players

It's a shame we can't afford Clarkson... Dupuis would have to sign elsewhere for us to have a shot and I'd rather have Pascal signed
- ChrisMS

I like Clarkson, but I'm just not confident enough that he can repeat his 30 goal season to give him the contract it would take to sign him.

Just watched a couple fights against Vitale (he got killed) and Kennedy (he lost by little) Zolnierczyk is definitely not a fighter but he can bodycheck well

Besides the possible character issues, the Zolnierczyk move makes sense. We move a guy who has zero chance of ever getting to the NHL here, for a guy who can play in WBS and be used as an injury callup.

A case of Shero throwing Grant a bone much like he did with Lovejoy.

I too like Clarkson. He has come a long way from being nothing more than a goon. That said, is he a one hit wonder? Sort of like the year Brady Anderson his over 50 homers and then never to be heard from again ... not saying Clarkson is on the juice either.

OMG, is this a deal or an idea? Zolnierczyk was a douche at Brown. Didn't like him at all. He has a purpose, but mostly in the AHL.

If we get Malone for Malkins left wing I'd be extremely happy. A big line that could cycle. Also, anyone else feel that the loss of Talbot was pretty big? Looking back, I'd much rather have him at his contract then Kennedy at his. Talbot was another team leader, puck retriever and cycles well.

Talbot's last season in Pittsburgh was very unproductive. Shero had no choice.
