NO!
Id like to see a Brandon Saad homecoming, but Malone is always injured, hes older, slower, more injured. He would look like Morrow. Ive never watched a Pens vs Bolts game and though, "man I wish we still had Malone" I've always thought, "WHeres Malone, isnt he a bolt? - sammy87
That's not happening in the next 7-10 years |

Hindsight is always 20/20... But Ray Shero could've had Ryan Malone on a nice cap friendly deal for 3 mil per, in mid season in his final Pens campaign... Instead he waited to the offseason and lost Malone due to his valuable playoff run.
That being said... I'm ok with Ryan Malone returning and the suggested 1.5 is fair for a guy on a buyout. Although I offer that same 1.5 first to Iggy |

I think RS got burned by Hossa waiting forever to make a decision. A lot of what RS could do depended on what direction Hossa was going to do. By the time he signed with teh Wings, it was too late for Malone. He should have given Hossa an ultimatium and then cut him loose. |

Yes... If he could be had for like 2 years x $1.5 million, that would be nice. - rival22
Yeah, it depends on the term more than the price for me. I have no problem in slightly overpaying for Malone to a one year contract. You know what Malone brings to the table - especially in the playoffs. Anything more than 2 years and I would start being cautious in regards to the price. |

would love to see Malone back... he fits in so well... if the pens can't resign cooke, he fits in well on the third line. If Bennett needs some time on the third line to sharpen his defensive skills, malone fits well on the top 6. If jokinen ends up playing center or ends up on the third line, malone steps up to the top 6. lastly, he provides legit top 6 depth if kunitz, neal, jokinen, or bennett go down. would be a good move for pens at right price |

Since there is nothing to talk about in regards to the Penguins, and we are all pretty much making crap up to talk about, let's switch gears.........
How bout them Buccos!!!!! |

The penguins should fix there goalie problem first. But malone would be a good pick up for any team if he can stay healthy. - Dkosgood
We have bigger problems than goalie.

His contract would be very inexpensive to the penguins ad he would be a great low risk high reward signing. |

My Random off the wall Letang trade of the day:
Signed Letang & 3rd round pick to the Avs for the 1st overall and Steve Downie
Then turn around the 1st overall to Calgary for all their 1st round picks, plus Glencross. - cap1681
pass on Steve Downie

A healthy Ryan Malone, I'd love to see back in Pittsburgh. I don't want any part of the current Ryan Malone. He is more likely to be on the injury list than on the ice. He is an element we have been missing. |

There is no risk in signing Malone to a cheap contract, none. |

yeah, zero risk/mid to high reward sounds pretty good. 2 years, 3 mil total would be nice. It's goes to huge value if he plays 60+ games and scores 20 goals. |

He will get 6M from Tampa to not play for them. If he really did want to return, he could make it happen. |

I don't even care about goals they just need a guy who can stand in front of te net and not get bullied out or just stop going to the front (Kunitz). |

A 1.5M contract would give him the exact same money he would have gotten in Tampa |

that would have to be sarcasm... the risk is using up cap space on a player who has an injury history. even if he signed for a couple mil... hell... even if he signed for less, that still would be a risk. Unless it was a long term injury.. if he kept going out for 5-10 game stretches at a time, it hamstrings shero for that cap space. that being said... I think he should be gotten if the gittens good |

It's not sarcasm. If you can't take a chance on a guy like Malone for 1.5M then you aren't managing your cap appropriately. |

31,500,000 reasons why he left... I'd sign a 7 year contract to work in Siberia for that money, let alone on a beach in Tampa. - rival22
Definitely. If he comes for cheap, he's a good option. $1.5M sounds good to me.
Do you guys think the Malkin line would be too slow with Malone and Neal in there? I know chemistry is more important than speed though.. |

I wont disagree... but there still is a risk. I'd be all about going for Malone up to 2 mil a year... but to say its without a risk isn't accurate. ask tampa... now 2 mil is far less risky than 4.5, but it still carries a little question mark |

I'd do that but perhaps we are getting too much out of Calgary Could Feaster trade us all 3 first round picks + Glencross? |

maybe... but malone was still slow back in the day and it worked. I wonder if it would become a "sibling" rivalry between neal and malone over who gets more attention |

Bingo. Injuries we can manage. Him be slow on the ice when he's actually playing is my biggest concern even if he came with a steep discount. He's going to take up a roster spot no matter what he's paid.
I am very fond of Malone, but I'd rather get Iginla again if we're headed in that direction.
Personally, we need to find a few, young, big, fast, power-forwards. Someone who can dump it in Chara's corner and go get'im. |

It's a shame we can't afford Clarkson... Dupuis would have to sign elsewhere for us to have a shot and I'd rather have Pascal signed |
