Yes, if Weiss is gone. Bjustad and Mackinnon as the top two centres will be quite good. |

Dan.. what in the blue hell?! This is the first time I actually never read your blog, that's how angry jut the title made me. Once I went outside and blew off some steam by killing a kitten, I came back and read it.
While Bjugstad could fetch a ton on the trade block, if we were going to make a trade to bring in any talent, it would NOT involve Bjugstad. Let me break something down for you:
1) Bjugstad came to the NHL right after the NCAA tournament. He had no prior pro experience, and played some damn good hockey. He got his kinks out quickly and started to show some solid growth towards the end of the season. He scored a damn goal. He was a better player at the end of the year than Shore was. He needs a season in San Antonio next year and will then be ready to take Goc's spot as the third line center.
2) If we're going to trade a prospect, I think it needs to be Howden.
3) Just.. no.
Remember that Mueller plays center, Huberdeau plays center, Kopecky plays center... we have tons of options and we can move Matthias to the wing where, in my opinion, he plays a better game.
Bjugstad has to be one of those untouchable players. Can you imagine him as our #2 center being MacKinnon in a few years? With Matthias as #3 and Shore as #4? No way on EARTH do you give up Bjugstad right now. Centers can be MacKinnon if we get him, Mueller if we resign him, Goc/Matthias, Shore. Matthias should be on the wing somewhere. |

Ya know, now that I read that, we need an established #1 center. If Richards gets bought out, we should go after him. Or honestly, try to re-sign Weiss. |
|
|
|
let him play in san anton and get experiance... bring him up for injuries... depth is a good thing and a sign of a healthy franchise |

Who said trade Bjugstad? I didn't. It's simply San Antonio next year or on the big club. I didn't infer anything else. |

Maybe, the centre depth would allow MacKinnon to wing. Personally, I can see him (MacKinnon) playing a Taylor Hall type of game. |

Thank you. We went to her apartment today and did the "who wants this" deal. It was hard. But yeah, let him simmer in the AHL for a season. He is going to rip people to shreds here soon. I would love our future at center to look like:
MacKinnon
Bjugstad
Trochek
Shore
Matthias on the wing on the third line. |

Mackinnon could be this draft's Toews, why on earth would any team that drafts him even consider moving him to the wing. He thinks and excutes the game very well in every situation. |

I like the trade because we get immediate help on the blue line and up front.. and I mean we get some elite help in Vanek.. and we can still draft Monahan at 8 |

Not sure what you mean by this draft's Toews. Mackinnon closely compares to Taylor Hall at the Centre ice position mixed with Stamkos' shot and offensive awareness.
