Buying out Grabovski is not going to happen. They can trade him and get something back for him. The only buyout next season is going to be Komisarek.
- mikeinbuffalo

Didn't someone say dallas was always high on Grabo? Might as well trade him there, some teams are bound to be interested for a center. Komi is definitely being bought out 100 percent

I know what you're saying, I do, but I'm looking at this year and this year's Grabovski is completely lost out there, you could try but I think it is a disaster if they play together.
- LeafMan

He is very lost out there. It's sad really, because I don't think it's lack of effort. I think he's trying too hard to get in the coach's good books that he actually makes mistakes. His shots on goal are also way down too. 9 games left to try and get the old grabo back, I just worry that Carlyle's already given up.

They should try him on the wing with kadri, he doesn't even have to play center

Ok let me rephrase - Bozak is doing more to earn the money he does get than Grabbo is currently earning now. No, not 5.5 but if Bozak was the one getting that right now, then at least we could say he's earning it, whereas Grabs is not.

I was high on Grabovski that he would be a good offensive weapon but with all the good Carlyle has done, his biggest mistake may have been trying to make him a shutdown/defensive centre.

I was actually thinking the same thing a few games back. Couldn't hurt to try. He has a killer wrist shot so just get him along the wall where he can wheel and have less defensive responsibility.

I suggested that a while ago, it didn't catch on much here, only a couple of people responded.

It's actually surprising how many goals grabo has as the trailing forward, and usually when he's the one who rushes the puck in, its the assists he generates, not the goals.

I agree Mike, I even posted the buyout numbers a little while ago and said it ain't happening, I don't think Carlyle has plans for him though, only option is to trade and that may be difficult.
- LeafMan

I don't see why it would be difficult. Ribeiro is probably gonna get around 6 or 6.5 and possibly for more than 4 years. As long as Nonis isn't holding out for some ridiculous package.

He is not even that good at faceoffs this year, might as well try him on the wing, kadri can get him going easily just like everyone else he helped get going

It's just a number eh, I stopped reading your post after that line.

It's a cap world buddy, with 2 centers that are both better becoming free agents the number matters.

What a stupid comment.

I don't want to do anything with Bozak till I see who the buyouts are. I imagine every NHL team will be in that boat.

He could always be on the 4th line rotating with one of the fighters? At least if you have kuley on, we have 3 lines that could score easily

No surprise that Grabs won't be able to play out his contract with Carlyle at the helm. He just doesn't seem to know what to do with the puck when entering the zone.

Bozak has come around to the point where he isn't missing open nets like he was in his first year. His faceoff skills are invaluable. Look at the last minute of play last night. Bozak at 4 is better than Grabs at 5.5, esp considering Grabs is almost 30.

Also, now that Colborne's up with the big club, there's reason to believe he'll be able to earn a 3rd line centre out of camp next year. His size will be appreciated from RC as long as Joe's willing to use it to its potential.

I would be fine with getting a reduced return as long as the salary's clear. I could see a team like WSH, NSH, CBJ interested.

It wasn't a mistake, he got outplayed plain and simple. Maybe they could try him on the wing, but he absolutely looks lost out there. He has simply been pushed out by a younger better player

One of two things will happen, they wait until after free agency or they extend him before the end of the season, if they don't extend, then they will look at Weiss, Roy & Ribiero, and then decide, imo.

We must be using a slightly different formula.

Are you dividing the Leafs' wins by 2 or 3?
