Yep, use him for the run this year and trade him in the offseason. Maybe get Bozzy signed for 4 or less. - aminnes
Exactly. Grabovski's lack of chemistry with Kessel and Kadri's emergence have made him redundant, and that value/term make him tough to move. No matter how much you like Grabo - which I do (we used to live in the same condo building in TO and he's a good guy) - doesn't mean that is a good contract. |

If I was the NHL, I'd tell the IOC to stuff it.
Why should the NHL fit the entire bill for this thing? - Atomic Wedgie
IOC could ask same question of NHL though... |

the very limited times they've played on same line they were very good. I still want to see it for a few games before we declare it as fact. but then that's what a full training camp would have been for. no time for testing now. |

I'm amazed at how many people are content to have Grabovski make $5.5 in a hard cap world playing 11 minutes a night. It's ridiculous. Play him commensurate to his paycheque or ship him out. Bozak is the guy on the ice taking draws when the game is on the line anyway. - Deeps27
I was harping about Grabs when he signed that deal last year. By no measure was he worth 5.5. He had inflated minutes because we had nobody to fill those minutes. He is also damn near 30 years of age. His window is closing and he has certainly peaked. Perhaps a change of scenary will do him good as I can't imagine him being thrilled with with current role, yet the team is winning and he hasn't done a single thing offensively in damn near a month.
Not to say I had a hard-on for Bozak but I think a lot of people were willing to dump on the younger Bozak because Grabs was playing so well. Bozak is a very smart hockey player. He wins key faceoffs, and is a suitable 2nd line centre for the next couple years. Colborne should be ready to fill in the 3rd line centre role permanently as of next season.
Bozak won't command something similiar to the stupidity of Grabs' deal, as the cap is dropping, and I do believe he enjoys life in Toronto enough to take something slightly smaller. I'd say 4 years at 4-4.5 per
I do still believe there is a market out there for a guy like Grabs too. If Erat can fetch the likes of Forsberg in NSH then certainly there's something to be had from Grabs.
I say CBJ:
Grabs

________
Jenner
Dansk
We lose a 1st rounder, but gain two prospects who are further ahead in their development. Jenner did well with Biggs in Oshawa this year, and should be NHL ready in a couple season.
Dansk, meanwhile, was taken at the end of the 1st round last year, is highly touted, and will be coming around in 5 years or so, at a time when we may need other options than James Reimer |

There's no point. Bozak has done at least as good as Grabs at that position. Grabs doesn't win the key faceoffs either.
Remember him blowing that faceoff in Ottawa that led to the winning goal? some checking centre he is.
Plus whenever he approaches the other team's blueline with the puck he literally looks lost. And I don't want to hear about how the players he's with being no good; he simply doesn't have any imagination. He skates the puck onto a defender's stick, or if he's lucky enough to get it deep, it stays deep, creating one of the most unproductive cycles I've ever seen |

I think he benefitted from the wheel-and-deal style of Wilson, but like you said, they weren't winning games. Obviously RC sees something in Bozak he really likes. Bozak is also apparently a great dressing room guy and that goes a long way with chemistry. Someone will take Grabs. |

Yes and style of play that RW employed was a big part of that. Good point.
Sadly what's good for Grabs wasn't good for the team and that's why we are only now starting to sort things out in the win column |
