No Chance in hell. I can go to work hungover as sin with 8 hours sleep. Getting 3 hours sleep without drinking? its a sick day lol
- IrishRage

try it with drinking

(those nights i got to sleep in the van (no driving obviously)

i once went.. 3 solid days on just a couple hours of sleep.. we were touring out east and we played in Sydney NS.

i drove in, we had a motel room.. played til 2am, then went to some after bar til 4:30 or 5.. then stayed up til 7 or so, slept for an hour, got up and started packing the van up

by the time they were awake i was ready to roll.. we had to get going cause we played in st john that night

so we hit the road.

got to saint john, and that was supposed to be my break in the driving, had to leave that night after pack up since we were due on montreal the next night. i order one beer and look over at my piano player (they only other guy able to drive the van) and he had ordered a bottle of whiskey.. not just a drink.. a bottle.. and was sitting down the bar from me already 1/4 pissed.. he saw me and went CHEERS...

i finished my beer and switched to water.

at the end of the night my piano player and drummer were trying to convince the rest of us to go home with these two girls from the bar. i was sober and said (frank) that we're leaving for montreal now. (my guitarist and i were warned previously during the night that the girls the other two were hitting on would probably give them something if you catch my drift) so the rest of told them to get in or we were leaving them there lol

anyways, my piano player started screaming in the back of the van "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" cause all he remembered was seeing me drink that one beer i mentioned earlier so he assumed i had been drinking all night lol.

i ignored him (as best i could) and got to the petro right before we hit the highway for montreal. went in, bought myself two X large coffees...got back in the van, rolled a large joint.. and hit the highway.. 15min later they were all passed out so i lit the j, and had the nicest night of driving the entire tour. made it all the way to edmonston before i finally gave up and had to go to sleep.

Would it have really mattered if they didn't make the playoffs this year? I don't have an issue with re-signing him, it's the 5 year term attached that is the issue. If that's what he demanded then I would have flipped him for one of those mythical 1st round picks Burke blustered about after the trade deadline.

He's not a horrible player, but not sure he'll ever justify that contract...

Sometimes you have to make a hard decision - $5.5 x 5 is not peanuts, and it is WAY too rich for Grabovski. I'm sure most reasonable fans would rather have the RIGHT guys locked up to a deals like this, not someone just because they might not have him next year.

That's why it would be much better to trade him...That would be much easier for fans to swallow...Luongo for Grabs/pick would have been fantastic...

He was the best center we had with no one better coming up through the system and no available FA upgrades in the foreseeable future.

Centres w/o Grabs:

Bozak
Connolly
Lombardi
Steckel

You really want to sit and watch that happen?

Come on, be serious...If they move Grabs they'll bring in someone else who will be paid according to talent level...

At the time, the Leafs were really not in any position to let him walk, though.

In hindsight, a shorter deal would have been much prefered over the current situation, but there was no indication last season that we'd have something better coming along within a few years.

He was our best center over the past 2-3 years, and even if he was never going to be our #1, everybody thought he'd make a solid #2 and fit into our plans in the top six.

He'll get a shot at redemption next year... then come some difficult decisions.

Pffft... amateur

After my candidacy exam (3 hours in a room with 5 profs where they ask you whatever the (frank) they want to see if you're good enough for a PhD) we hit up the bar at midday, grabbed some eats, and kept drinking until 12.30 am. I was in at work nice and shiny the next day at 7.30

With the contracts being handed out at the time, it would have been some stupid over payment regardless.

I don't care who the Leafs best C was when they were crappy, I care about giving $5.5 x 5 to a centre who will perform and contribute commensurately on a championship calibre team. Sign Ribeiro last summer as a replacement if they needed to...for 1 yr. I like Grabo, but I am soured on the one-dimensional contribution he has brings because of a lack of chemistry with Kessel, and he has not justified the $5.5 at all this year. IMO guys who make $5.5 should perform to a level that makes the coach play him where he should be in the lineup, not throw your hands up and say "I'm not producing because of (Insert Reason)" - bust through that ceiling; take the roster by force and make them play you.
