The Rangers are already thin on defense. Del Zotto only makes $2.5 million a year, so given their lack of cap space, you can't use him in a trade to go out and get a $6-7 million player. You need to stay in the same ballpark salary wise, and also make sure you fill the hole on defense if you were going to trade him. So, given those factors, what type of Del Zotto deal makes sense? I don't see any Del Zotto deal making much sense to be frank.

Edit: Also, did you guys see that Fowler signed a multi-year extension at $4 million per? Del Zotto has to be wondering why he signed for $2.5 million. And, I am sure that McDonagh will think he is worth a whole hell of alot more than Fowler.

Kreider with some really nice things to say about Kris Newbury. Newbury seems like a good guy to have in the organization, even if he never really does much at the NHL level.
