I agree, something should happen for the sake of shake up, I blame Management more then anything, because they should have the depth that they've had in the past to weather numerous injuries.

Didn't even read the blog but having followed the Vancouver hockey scene for 20yrs it sure fits....the team name should have been changed to the Vancouver Scapegoats long long ago. Bure, Cloutier, Messier, Luongo.....

It's a team game.

It is a team game. The fans are upset with management and the coaching staff for not assembling and managing a team with enough depth to compete every night. Not the same situation whatsoever. No one player is to blame and for the most part, that sentiment is shared with most fans.

For me, firing AV is about 40% coaching decisions and 60% team work ethic.

This team is consently not ready to work and that pisses me off. That is the one thing to me that a coach should be able the get out of players and for whatever reason, AV hasn't been able to get a consistant work ethic out of this team since the finals.

ALAIN VIGNEAULT IS NOT THE PROBLEM, ITS THE PLAYERS!!!!!!!
BLAME GILLIS!!!!

Ian, the team just isnt as good as previous years. This falls on Mike Gillis.

-Sami Salo, should of retired a Canuck, was low balled and left. Now he's Tampas best Defensman. He was our best defenseman the last 5 years, and a right handed shot. He was key on the Canuck PP and PK.
Gillis thought he would get Justin Schultz, a right handed BC kid, lost the gamble, already set Salo free, and had to settle and overpay for Jason Garrison on the open market. No one can say Garrison is better even though he's 10 years younger.

-Mikeal Samuelsson, was cocky, had swagger, had never been as productive in his career as he was as a Canuck. He moved up and down the lineup, More importantly he is a sniper, a right handed shot who can play the point on the second unit. He's a winner, vet with experience, just the player this team needed and needs, and as soon as he has an injury, Gillis bails on him because he's "too old" and trades him for an over paid, under acheiving soft, hands of stone, never been to the playoffs, never done anything, rather go hunting David Booth. This team has to many choir boys, not enough edge, so lets get rid of our cock vet with winning edge and a leathal shot, the best shot on the team? The guy single handedly beat the Kings in 2010, scored like 12 points in the series!

-Raffi Torres, the guy was a spark plug, a chusher. He hit the other teams best players, made player play scared, he had character, was cocky with swagger, and has a history of being a big game player(Oilers '06). So Gillis lets him go for nothing, why? because he has an attitude? We have enough choir boys Gillis! Torres would move up and down the lineup, very versatile.

-Christian Ehrhoff, the guy is dynamic, he get 5 mill per year, Ballard makes 4 mill per and is our 6 D man. I know the Sabre gave him 10 mill signing bonus, but he's dynamic, he had chemistry , had a leathal shot and chemistry with this team. You couldnt move Ballard for him! No, you sign Garrison to a 6 year 5 mill per, the same cap hit as Ehrhoff!, Ehrhoff is 10 times better then Garrison. The Canucks are one of the richest teams in the league, owners net worth aprox, 5 billion and we get high balled by Pegula. Why couldnt you make Ehrhoff feel like a part of our core, and important, maybe he would of fore went the crazy signing bonus. The Sedin's won 2 consecutive scoring titles 112pts, and 105 pts with him quarterbacking the backend, they had the best PP in the Effin league!

-Mikael Grabner, a 34 goal scorer rookie of the year candidate, fastest skater in the league, traded for Keith Effin Ballard!

-Roberto Luongo, Why is this guy not moved yet!
Summary
Mike Gillis has made poor talent evaluations of players outside this organization. He has also Not appreciated the talent that had fallen in his lap in house, letting it go for unproven Flordia Panther scraps. And we as Canuck fans wonder why this team isnt winning anymore. Its Gillis, he's gutting this team for no reason of its character and chemistry, they had an elite team, now the just another playoff team, thank Gillis.

Who wants to fire Gillis?

YES

NO

100% agree. The Canucks remind me of a more skilled version of the Leafs from last year. Every once in a while they have a game where they look dominant. Then they disappear for a while. They look disinterested, like they're not really trying. Give the Leafs credit, even last night against the B's - that game could have gone either way. They fought hard all night long. They answered every hit and showed the B's that they were not going to be pushed around. The coaching change worked quite well this year for them. Not saying it is a guarantee for improvement if the Canucks make a change but at least you can say they tried something.

I still think Sharp and Shaw for Kesler . We get a second line center and top 6 winger.

Far be it for a 'Nucks-depiser like me to post in a 'Nucks blog, BUT...

I've always thought the shortcomings of this team have been the result of poor leadership from the top down.

And I'm - of course - an outsider looking in, so I may talking in out-of-towner cliches a bit here, but I've always felt this team lacked a sense of accountability.

And I suppose I don't recall a lot of specific comments from the players themselves, but certainly quite a few from AV and Gillis. I know I'm going to rub a lot of folks here the wrong way, but there's just a feeling of entitlement that permeates from these two, and bleeds into the perception of a lot of the players. (And let's call a spade a spade fellas, this team has a lot players who are easy to hate from the outside).

I think that if this team wants to turn a corner with the current personnel, both AV and Gillis have to go, and a more hard-nosed, lunchpail mentality needs to be implemented from the front-office down to the locker room - and thus, onto the ice.

I don't think you are far off from your comments .

Starting with the GM

He is stubborn ,priickly, and a snake oil salesman. He picks up contracts that other team lets go and tries to sell them a Vanvouver philosophy, which us fans are still trying to figure out ( Eample . Pinizzotto, Weise ,Bitz)

Instead of getting a second line , which he has now had plenty of time to find a second line, instead presents us Raymond Samuelsson Strum type players.

He picks up other team rejects Alberts Ebbett Barker

He also has a real problem of getting rid of players when thier value is high.

Like the kid, but I think he's a career third-liner.

Actually, with his size and they way he plays, I have some concerns of just how long that career will be. Got his bell rung by a Stastny elbow the other night, and I have a feeling this will be the first of several concussions.

He's too small to play so wreckless. Needs to rein it in and pick his spots.

You guys need someone who can win a faceoff and need help up the middle until Kesler comes back. Bozak certainly seems like he'd be a good fit in Vancouver.

I think the leafs need to deal him this year as he doesn't fit into their long term plans. Realistically we wont get much for him as he's an impending UFA but would Vancouver be interested and what do you think he's worth?

I think he'd be worth a 2nd

Was just looking at CapGeek - what's the Vancouver outlook next season? Assuming Luongo is moved, things still look a bit tight and top-heavy with the cap drop. You guys expecting any other names to be dangled this summer?
