Sadly me too.
I honestly feel this team is on par with the Flames right now.
Kipper =Schneider
Daniel Henrick slightly better than Iggy Cammi
2 nd line edge to flames
3rd line goes to Canucks
4 th line Flames
D not far apart JB Wiedman or Bieksa Hamhuis - VANTEL
I'd say Daniel and Henrik >> Iggy/Cammy(look at recent point totals)
Second lines will be even once Kesler is back with Booth, I'd actually take ours over theirs as well.
3rd line is an easy win for us because we 2 very good 3rd line wingers, although Calgary has always had a soid bottom 6 IMO.
4th line Flames for sure.
On Defense give me Edler, Hamahuis, Bieksa, Garrison, Ballard and Tanev over Giordano, Jbo, Wideman, Brodie, Butler and Sarich/whoever. |

Jamie Benn was presented with a long term offer from the #DallasStars.. 5-6 years worth about 5.5M per #NHL - VANTEL
Definitely not a hometown discount, not bad value though. He'll definitely be worth that kid of money in another year or two if he keeps improving. |

Bieksa takes down Luongo. Mask flies off. http://twitpic.com/bv9qr3
Gillis figured other ways to get Lu off the books
The sad thing is if we injure him in practice we have no value for him .Trade him Gillis - VANTEL
Nah, just rough him up a little before he goes to Toronto. |

We've gotta be able to find a way to get that guy on our roster. I hate the whole concept of RFAs (WTF is that anyway). Like any other industry, you're either under contract or you're not (UFA). Having no contract but still being tied to an organization is mind-boggling when you really think of it. |

Dallas would be stupid to let him go, he's not going to be a superstar, but he'll be a good first line player for years to come. I would definitely consider throwing an offer sheet at Dallas, I don't get why teams are so afraid to do it. It's not so frowned upon in the NBA when teams do it, the NHL seems too touchy about it. |

The NHL is the most restrictive pro-sports organization going at the moment. I thought having a salary cap would be restrictive enough.
In some ways I have sympathy for GMs who get stick for not "doing something." There seems to be so little that you can do that wouldn't cancel something else out. I'd be a fan of players having contracts signed with the individual teams (as opposed to with the NHL directly). That way if we wanted to trade a player, a price could be agreed based on the value of the player alone (and not the player + his contract) and he'd be free to discuss new terms with the new team. |

It's not hard to imagine a patient GM waiting for the Canucks annual slow start to light a fire under Gillis' ass so he jumps on a lesser deal for Luongo... lesser probably than what he can get now.
Think back to last season... slow start, scoring problems on the second line. Gillis jumps on Booth. As trade deadline approaches, when asked if he's going to fix the second line, Gillis keeps reminding everyone that he made his top six move in the 1st month of the season... on the surface this trade looks like a good return but in less games, Samuelsson out scored him... a proven playoff performer also. This was a trade made under pressure for a player covered in red flags. Florida got everything they wanted...they shed salary for this season and got players back that helped get them into the playoffs. What we got still remains to be seen, has done nothing and is already limping around with the season openning Saturday.
Timing is everything. Make your team now and adjust at the TDL. It works much better than doing it from an inevitable position of weakness.
I'm getting a feeling that Gillis' ego is going to play in a negative way here. He's going to want a home run to reflect how much he still stands behind that ridiculas contract. He'll bend only when the poops hitting the fan and I hope it isnt like the Booth trade where we are making a gamble on poor pot odds and later saying "we took our shot...oh well".

I wasn't too happy about the comments. I think he was the best pick for what I could have gotten at 40. Given the all the stats we use for points.
Plus I didn't make the rules on the amount of players. Just doing this for fun really. |

Vandermeer signed a deal with the Canucks today.
He and Barker will be our 7/8. Still, it seems we are loading up on Dmen. I was alright with Alberts and a prospect as our 7/8.
I feel like Gillis is going to move a Dman. |

As usual ,very well thought out.
Do you think Gillis would trade Schneider? If Gillis could not find an acceptable deal I think he would hang on to Lu. As you said he is very stubborn .
If he could not sign Edler for Hamhuis type money he could offer Schneider Edler a for Coutiere and L Schenn . That would be cap friendly for Flyers. |

Something is brewing but we have no idea what.
AV said Garrison has a cannon of a shot and a great work ethic.
Kesler was skating today doing basic stuff and looked good. No discomfort. Botch figures he is gone 3 weeks
Booth gone for MRI |
