Way to handle an honest opinion about your goaltending. At least you'll finish around the same place as the Leafs this season. Aim high. |

Grenier and Mallett have both been called up to the Wolves after a couple good weeks in K-zoo. Likely just to fill the vacant spots due to Canucks camp, but definitely a decent chance to make an impression and stick for a while. |

Na, Gillis just checked off the wrong box on the recall form.
"we called up who?"
" no that was a joke form. You really think they are making our club."

No idea who Mullen is. But Desbiens is no surprise, he's a bottom 6 AHL'er type of talent. |

Must be the same course Burke took before he said he would have taken Rielly 1st overall.....or Murray before he told Burke that the Sens were going to pick Kadri... |

So we now have Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler, Garrison, Ballard, Tanev, Alberts, Barker, Joslin and Vandermeer. Joslin will probably be on the Wolves, but there's now way we'll have 9 d-men on the roster, right? |

I like this signing more than the Barker signing. At least Vandermeer brings some toughness.
Hopefully this means Joslin doesn't see any time with the big club.
I just hope this isn't a sign that Hamhuis's injury isn't worse than they're letting on. |

I'm not a big fan of Vandermeer, but he's a decent 7-8 type of guy. I agree that he's a better signing than Barker. He's pretty similar to Alberts, just not as big and probably tougher. I think this rules out the Canucks trading Luongo for a d-man, if they were close on a deal that included a d-man we probably wouldn't have signed both of these guys. |

I'd say there will be far more injuries than a regular full season...so its good to stock pile while they can... |

I have no problem with it, I agree injuries could be a major issue especially since we barely had any of our core guys playing professional hockey during the lockout. Watch Ballard end up behind Alberts, Barker and Vandermeer on AV's depth chart. He'll get like 5 games playing on the right side.

Good point, might as well sign these guys before another team with injuries has to. I can see one or two of our d-men being waived by the opener for sure though if everyone stays healthy. Too many bodies. |

I would agree. If Day 1 of camp is anything to go by, this season will be a bloodbath of injuries. It would be good to play these spare part Dmen as often as we can get away with during the season. The team that wins this year's Cup will be the contender that is most healthy come playoff time. |

A wise decision. With their youth and the injuries that will strike most older teams in a condensed season, I can see EDM making the playoffs this year. |
