And so Ruff will do it again. Ruin the career of yet another NHL player.
He's got to go. - Powerslave

Neither are Hecht or Leino, but he doesnt mind playing them there. Ruffs made a few comments to make me think he'll test him out at center. - Rally_Shots
Where does the 7th (Brennan) dman play, on the 4th line and pp? We will be one forward short. |

Briere had 30goal season before he came here. Campbell had career year in points last season not under Ruff. |

Campbell certainly didn't have his career year here.
Sanderson, Barnaby, not to mention all the backup goalies we've had that he refused to play.
Gilmour hated him.
I fear that Vanek hates him. |

Guess we just have differing opinions - it's all good. |

I thought you said ruined their career, not their career years. Sanderson was not a fit for this team, Barnaby was a whiny biyatch because uncle Teddy got fired( not resigned) and Gilmour was over the hill. You can take any coach in the NHL and give examples of players who have thrived and the ones that flamed out. It doesn't mean they are a bad coach. |

Missing the playoffs pretty regularly, never winning a Cup, having players speak out publicly against you, misusing your goalies on an annual basis does IMO |

Never once said Lindy was a bad coach. I think he doesn't utilize his players correctly many times.
He has run his course here, IMO.

Briere was not considered to be the upper level player until he came here. That is how we stole him for Gratton. |

And I can counter with having to deal with a team bankruptcy, frugal owner(Golisano), surviving 3 different ownership groups each with different perspectives on how the team should spend, the loss of key players (Drury,Briere,Campbell). But I respect your opinion and I have my own. |

Pommer? Miller? Ennis? Myers? Roy? Foligno is looking good? Stafford? Vanek?
What terrible terrible careers. |

Great trade by Darcy, but he was a 30g scorer nonetheless. He was hidden In PHO. Lindy has gotten the most out of players like Drury or Gaustad. I cant give him credit for guys like Campbell or Briere because they were incredibly talented to begin with |

I would bet if we fired him, he would be picked up pretty quickly. I just think he's not good enough to last 15 yrs.
I just have never seen a Ruff team overachieve like a Nolan team did. it seems like it's been the opposite |

Ennis? He was good for 1/2 a season.
Foligno? He was good for 17 games.
Myers? Regressing by the year.
Stafford? One great year (was it because of the 5 hat tricks?), and one ok year. The rest of the time? Underachiever.
You know what three out of these four guys have in common? All first round picks. Shoulda, coulda, woulda.
They miss the playoffs again, Ruff is gone.

You named 4 first round picks, they are supposed to be good players. Not to mention the regression of Vanek, Stafford, and Myers under Ruff's system. Roy is not a good example by the way |

I don't agree about Briere. He may have been hidden from the fans perspective but hockey people have much more knowledge. Campbell also could barely crack the lineup before Ruff, not to mention he was a 6th round pick. |

Notice Vanek's "regression" coincides with the loss of our top centermen. Myers, like many other players throughout hockey history had a sophomore slump. Stafford I don't care for anyway. And all those players have been in Ruff's system their whole NHL career so the blame the system argument doesn't really fit. |

I would just be hesitant to say that Ruff made Briere who he was. He had success before and after the Sabres. His career was definitely defined here, but almost every Sabre on the 05-06 or 06-07 had their career years then |

I love Myers, I personally think he will be 1 of the best in the NHL. I dont think Ruff is a horrible coach, but for the "core" thats still here, IMO he's stale |

I'm not saying Ruff made Briere, just that his system really helped him develop into the player he is. More specific, the system worked around Briere's talents and allowed him to thrive. |

I agree he may have lost their ears a bit. But I think the injection of youth and talent will get them going. It seems now they have to look over their shoulders to keep their jobs. |
