If he's getting $1MM or less for a year it's a great deal. He's been very good on the PK, but he is 1 hit away.
As for getting O'Reilly, he's an RFA and he'll controll about 3 to 4 Mill a year, this would cost a few draft picks. Not to mention we'd have to trade away a few people to clear up cap space.
After listening to Lindy on WGR this AM, he sounds as if he's going to have a new approach to the season. He mentioned dressing 7 D and using one as a PP specialist. He also said Scott would dress almost every game and play some minutes.
It sounds like Lindy wants to run 3 lines 18 to 19 min each and his 3 extra will get 4 to 6 minutes.

Brennan?
Interesting to hear this. I thought he would want to roll 4 lines with such a condensed schedule.
I guess it makes sense to play your best players (top 9) a lot. Every game is so important.

It's not like he is being brought back with a huge amount of expectation. He adds depth and a knowledge of the system. If he signed a 2-way minimum contract it is a great signing. (as long as he is healthy). - Dwight K. Schrute
I've just seen his act play out already. If we're adding depth then add someone with a pulse. Add some leadership, someone that creates accountability.
This team has lacked leadership and an identity for too damn long.

True...
This season is basically a long tryout for next season it seems... the Stanley Cup banner will have an astrix next to it for any one who wins it.

It would not have helped to add a guy like Arnott, he is too slow, our team is becoming a team who cannot skate very well. Thats another reason I dont want to trade Sekera. Plus we lost Roy who might have been our best skating winger (Ennis maybe).

Hecht is a waste of a roster spot and resigning him is so typical of this team. He's old, ineffective and almost stopped playing due to head injuries. Yeah, that's the guy you want...
And its funny, when I heard Lindy, it sounded more like a coach who had been doing the same job for 14 years and ran out of ideas.

Armory is the EXACT type of player missing from this roster. Look what Recchi brought to the Bruins' lineup ? I was screaming for 3 years for Darcy to go after Recchi or Arnott or Langenbrunner. These guys add so much to the team. Roy is addition by subtraction.
Down by a goal late in the game every Sabre on the bench has their head down waiting for a leader to say or do something. Vanek and Pommer don't have the voice to lead a group of Girl Scouts. Great supporting guys but they need a leader.

I agree. Arnott does not fit the needs of this team. Arnot is a PP producer, not a 3rd line shut down center.
Hecht was washed up 2 years ago. Plus, doesn't this signing contradict every reason Darcy had for trading LaFontaine all those years ago? Seems a little hypocritical to me
