I want them to play EDM on the road to start. Why? I want a serious test to start the season. Not the same thing as playing the Blue Jackets.
Win a game like that, get the good start rolling, and start pushing the boulder to the playoffs.
This can be done, GFG!

I don't think playing the Oilers is an easy win. I bet the Oilers come out flying since they are young and all their players were playing during the lockout. I wouldn't be too surprised if they made the playoffs.

As an Oilers fan any sort of optimism frightens me

I think a match with the Oilers to start the season off is perfect! Nice easy win to get the rust off and gain some confidence!

There is no doubt they buy into Hartley's system? How do you know that when they haven't even played a single practice, let alone game yet?

They are..... if the NHL changes the rules and doesn't allow goalies this season.

Dubnyk is a decent goalie... Hopefully Rehabibulin is out all season (because he is sh1t)

Dubnyk played well last season to be honest...he was left hanging by the other five guys on the ice.

as for the Flames I think it could go either way...and they are not really old like people seem to think, the roster is probably middle of the pack age wise in the NHL. Feaster has been bringing in younger guys as older ones go out.

Morrison, Ollie, Hannan, people just like to fall back on the old "flames are old" thing.

Agreed. He is doing a much better job drafting, re-stocking with younger middle-of the pack (Hudler) and young gambles (Cervenka). I am quite excited actually!
It's a rebuild within having a shot. Because, let's face it, everyone not CBJ has a shot at the playoffs this yr.

Only thing separating the Lamezzz and the Oil the past couple years was Kipper. If he had not stood on his head the Flames wouldve been in the lotto both seasons.

And yet, this is already something every Flames fan already knows. This has been the way the last, um, 9 yrs (-1 lockout yr)? And also applies to many teams that make the playoffs.

Sadly this is not true. I debate with Flames fans all the time...Many still beleive they are one or 2 peices away from a legit contender. I would say they are one injury away from a lotto pick. Not sure either can be proven right.

Awesome Whip! Business was slow so played lots of poker on line & at casino. Didnt win piss all but was fun. Starting to get busier now but I think thats probably a good thing for me now How about yourself?

Stupid Indianapolis screwed my point spread on the weekend, I figured Baltimore would win but I thought Indy would have covered the 6.5 spread. Bastards!

I'm thinking Denver, New England, GreenBay & I like Seattle over Atlanta. Just a gut feeling.

Looks like we got some fun discussions coming this year, maybe Rink will come out of the woodwork.

- Kevin R

Denver should roll over the Ravens at mile high, but that spread is tricky. New England could blow out Houston again but the rarely happens twice in the same season in the NFL, especially since Houston is a solid team. I'd pick NE to win and take HOU with the points. Seattle will expose Atlanta, I'd take them to win and the spread. GB and SF is too close to call but I'd go with Rodgers to pull it out.

Seattle is scary & I think they will be more than GreenBay or SF can handle. With NE, you just cant bet against Brady & expect to win with any consistency. That will be the best game IMO.

I always say the Flames have 2 feet on a banana peel but Kipper & Iggy are usually pretty durable & rarely miss games. My knock against the Oilers young guns is that Hall & Nuge are showing a bit of fragility early in their careers. Not sure Yapukov will be like that, I get the impression he will tend to vanish when the game gets a little rough. Book on Shultz is just opened but a great signing for you guys. Problem with the skilled guys, they tend to get injured. Starting to see that with Sven already but when he plays, he's good. I think between Gaudreau & Sven, if we can get another top kid at this years draft (I'm expecting to draft in the top 10), with a little luck we can have the makings of a pretty nice slick 1st line in a few years. Would love if we could score that Barkov.

Seattle looks like the most complete to me. I have them over NE in the SB. The HOU-NE and SF-GB games will be great. SEA-ATL and DEN-BAL aren't too shabby either, this is why the NFL is so great because anything can happen in one game and they don't have half of the league in the playoffs so all the playoff matchups are usually very good, especially after the wildcard.

Sarcasm escapes you I see
- scoot174

You really think that claiming beating a team that was one of the bottom two teams in the league three years running to be an easy win is sarcasm? It's about as close to an easy win as you can get theese days.

You guys really need to find a (proven) goalie...
- geta02it

...by the season after next. We're on a timetable here, and elite talent in goal is frikken expensive! I'd rather develop an average starter and ride a top 6 that can score 4 goals a game...

Visnovsky is a spoiled POS... I don't blame him for wanting to stay home, but to speak badly of Long Island is insanely childish. You're better off without that tool.

Look at it this way... either we improve this year or we get rewarded with another stupid high draft pick. It's like being a banker in America "oh, we seem to have failed again... you should bail our punk asses out..."

THE OILERS:Give us ALL the draft pick cuz we're Too Big To Fail!
