Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri as the players that will be sent to the Canucks for the 33 year old netminder.
DO NOT WANT!!!!
Please Vancouver, keep that washed up goalie. Way too overpaid, way too long a contract and he will be destroyed in this market once his first slump begins. |

Part of me wants Luongo and part of me wants to see what James Riemer can do. Goaltending is 90 % mental, according to Ken Dryden, who wrote the book on it, literally, and I like Riemer's make up. Seems like he can be something special.
That being said, Luongo is possibly the one of the most consistant goalies of the last ten years, is only 33 and his contract actually is not nearly as bad as it seems for these reasons:
-The cap is likeley to go up every year.
- The Leafs can always waive him or put him in the minors if he ever becomes terrible or if his contract is preventing the aquisition of a new player.
-He's 33 and realistically should have 5 years left of being the goalie he has always been.
- People who say he's lost a step, or that he is slower going side to side, are full of it because the difference between star goalie lateral quickness and regular goalie lateral quickness are imperceptable to the eye during play and over blown during slowmotion instant replay. This is people seeing what they want to see. Its called confirmation bias, its a real thing, look it up.
- He can't win the big game. People like to give human reason to things that are blind luck. He lost 2 or 3 games to LA, by one goal, without their best player. He lost a game seven cup final in which his entire team played terribly. People just blame the goalie way more than is empirically possible.
-Its almost a no risk move.
After all that, the Leafs should probably just get him. I would not, however, under any circumstances trade Nazem Kadri. The guy is like holding a lottery ticket. He might not be anything more than a second liner or an AHL star, but he could also become an allstar, and considering the Leafs situation, young talent base, there is just no reason to include him in the deal.
I just cannot believe that if Toronto is willing to eat that contract that they couldnt get a deal done for some combo of Colbourne, Bozak, Percy, Blacker, second rounders, Finn, Biggs or Frattin. And of those two, I think you hate to lose Kadri the most and Bozak second most.
Bozak is a Jose Bautista. A late bloomer, this kid is going to suprise a lot of people. I mean it. |

Mike Augello: What Is Fair Value For Luongo? - mikeinbuffalo
fair value for the second best goalie in Vancouver with 10 years remaining on his contract
1) a salary dump and lower level prospect (read Crapasarek & a 3rd rounder) to take on that salary and related commitment
2) if the deal is broadened, I can see the Canucks wanting to rid themselves of having to resign RFC Edler with the amount currenlty allocated to defense. if it isn't Edler then they'll look at Ballard and his also rediculously large contract... either way Canucks will need compensate any other team willing to take on such contracts ...
so Canuckleheads - eat it...you aren't getting a first and you aren't getting anything of value....

I expect a lot less than a highly toughted top 10 prospect and the second highest scoring russian last year Dammit got bozak mixed up with Kulemin. |

Atleast Bozak would finally be in his rightful spot on the third line. |

Or perhaps there is no fair value for any deal involving Luongo.
And maybe, there is no fair deal to be made for Toronto. |

I would trade Kadri in a heartbeat. I definitely would NOT trade Frattin, he is the better player of the two. |

No kidding, he would definitely fill a need. I'd love Kulemin, but not sure if Burke would be willing to include him in a deal. |

Ok, so you're counter against a logical, well thought argument is sarcasm? You know that isn't a conversation right? How can you possibly have the balls to be so condescending without offering any kind of alternative? I know its the internet so its anonymous, and you have no clue who I am or what I know, but your post is flat out ridiculous.
And if anyone is being serious when they say Frattin is better than Kadri, then holdy Christ! I don't even know what to say to that except that good luck finding a legitamate scout or analyst to agree with you. |

I don't understand.. Yeah Lou has a bad contract.. But he's still one of the best in the league. He was one win away from a cup, in a city where the fans treated him like crap. It's worth it. At least in my point of view. |

Problem is, nobody wants Luongo and his huge contract.
The Leafs are the only bidders, and the Nucks have 1 too many starting goalies.
Supply and demand will say that Luongo will be traded for less than market value.
Burke will give the Nucks something like this:
To TOR: Luongo
To VAN: Bozak, Franson, 2nd
The Nucks fill a D spot, get a third line C
Leafs get the #1 G they've needed since Belfour left (which was the last time they were in the playoffs)
