I'm pro capitalism, but the owners are being just as short sighted here. And it's proven that they would spend $100 million to break even.

In the big picture I think it's the owners who stand to lose more than the players.

just look at the model sport the NFL. the players knew that if they gave the owners the majority of the revenue 53% the owners (being brilliant businessmen) would make the sport far more profitable. thus making their 47% worth more.

why? whats wrong with doing a good deed and not expecting something in return? the guy flew in all the players whoeve played for the sabres and held a tribute for them then built a statue commenmorating the french connection. i can give other examples. im sorry if you disagree but ask any sabres fan on here what they think of their teams owner, i bet everyone of them would say he is the owner we have been wanting for some 30 years.
