Maybe they need to get to rock bottom to get a deal done.

I think that is an awesome idea and really if this is a case of the Players just dis-liking Gary Bettman, they actually deserve to get absolutely nothing out of it, if they are making it personal that is just ridiculous. And if Bettman is the one that proposed it, I think he needs to be given a lot of kudos for that (IF he was). |

I'd like to think some positives could come from this, but I highly doubt it. If they cant strike a deal by mid December, which looks highly unlikely, they might as well cancel the season. How can you have a 39 game season? It would be embarrassing to crown a Cup champ off a 39 game season, can't get a real feel for the best team that way. |

When the media starts to get discouraged, I'll start getting encouraged. Until then, the media's optimism is unwarranted. |

Just cancel the season already.
Players are being stupid at this point, no matter what deal they get now it will never make up for all the money they have lost in wages this season so far and more if the season is cancelled.
Also a good 20-25% of players that played last year will not be returning if the season is cancelled. If this lockout drags into next season that number will go even higher.
Players have a very limited window in their career where they can make top dollar for a number of years before they are in retirement for the majority of their life. Losing a year's salary when it's in the millions is not worth it over pride or some sort perceived principles. |

I think mid January is the drop dead date. They can still fit in 48 games. |

The media has been discouraged throughout the whole process. Eklund is the only one claiming progress has been being made |

The flip side of that is that the Owners are making it personal against Fehr. Always a two way street. There are two sides here.

Just another way for Bettman to force players taking decision and create internal problems into nhlpa.
So smart.
If players say yes to this, they are screwed. If they say no, they are screwed for public opinion. |

One would expect better from LeBrun. Even if it doesn't result in a deal, getting those two clowns out of the way for awhile is indisputably the HIGH point of these negotiations. |
|
|
|
As many have said previously, this all about pride for the players. And their pride is costing them millions and cutting careers short. The deal, whenever that happens, will only be getting worse. |

Ahah
yes. But the problem is that the proposition came from Bettman himself. |

Why are the players screwed if they say yes? They don't mind beaking off about Bettman on Twitter. Why not go right to the source and tell their bosses how they really feel? |
