Sorry....but if you fall into this category, you need to get a life. If you would rather watch a tainted 50 game season where the Lightning and Stars are in the Finals then nothing at all, then you clearly need a hobby. This season should already be cancelled and any games that do get played will be worthless.

True fans that have any self-respect will give the NHL the finger when they come back this year....

A Season is a Season. Why should I deprive myself of something that I love because of what happened in this? Every team will have the same chance, just like any other Season. I can't wait for play to start, and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it when it does. Guess that means I'm not a true fan.

If it hasn't already, the MLS will eventually supplant the NHL as the 4th major team sport in the USA.

There is only so much money to go around, and the current lockout will only accelerate the NHL's slide into irrelevance.

No billionaires are lining up to buy NHL franchises, without owners the league won't be able to support 30 teams.

Eventually professional hockey will only be played in traditional markets where it snows and we'll all be better for it.

Fewer teams = better teams = lower salaries = better ticket prices

Hate to break this to you, but as long as Bettman is a part of the NHL, then those things are pipe dreams.

We need a league retraction. 4-6 teams need to be dropped. Who are your picks?

If they don't settle by Jan 1, season is history. And I heard on Sirius NHL station that the Vegas oddsmakers are saying it's over.

Anyone who voted "never, ever again" on HB is ridiculous. You're here. You care.

Maybe. But attendance is going to take a big time hit and the NHL remains a gate driven league.

Once they relocate teams to Quebec, Southern Ontario and Seattle they'll be out of hockey markets and some franchises will go out of business.

I think we'll see 21 - 24 teams in the league one day and a reduction in salaries and ticket prices in most markets that will better reflect hockey's status as a niche sport.

I will not give the NHL another cent. I will spend my hard earned money on the London Knights in the OHL. At least I can afford to take my kids/family to a hockey game for less than $100.00.

Not everyone comes here for NHL updates. We still get updates about Jr prospects. Had that even when the NHL was running.

I posted this about a week ago. Pretty much says it all as far as I'm concerned:

NHL =

No more
Hockey
League

I used to pontificate to my non hockey friends about how the players were still "pure", playing for the sake of the game. No more. Huge salaries and greed has corrupted the game, maybe irreversibly. Players now have a sense of entitlement that would have been unthinkable 20 years ago and the NHL has managed to squander all momentum it had managed to gain almost in spite of itself. Most importantly, both sides have shown a complete disdain for the people who really pay their salaries and make what they do remotely possible.

I'm 39 years old, and am a Pens season ticket holder. I'm in an economic demographic that makes me precisely the kind of customer the league should be courting, but if they cancel the season, I will probably drop my tickets and put the money I save each year in my daughter's college fund.

I'll still be a fan.

Realistically, nothing will change that, but the amount of money I spend on the league is about to drop precipitously.

I'm sure there are people like me all over North America. These greedy jerks need to re-read their childhood stories about killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

I like what your saying here. I don't sway on either side here, i'm on the fans side, but it's almost as if when these players were kids they said "I'm going to be in NHL when I grow up and i'm going to make sure all players get their fair share of money!!!".

To me it's so obvious even just in comparison to the more financially successful leagues(NFL, NBA) that these hockey players are taking more money than they should to make the league as successful.

Two angles I have to offer:

1) If I'm the players, take the best deal the owners have, and just put a rider on it detailing that "we will sign this offer right now, if Gary Bettman will no longer be employed or cosulted by the NHL, forever and ever and ever."

2) Cancel NHL Hockey until Gary Bettman expires, natural causes or otherwise.

- El Capitano

Why Bettman, if you don't like how the league is run you better get 30 new owners because Bettman doesn't do squat without owner approval. He is an employee, he doesn't own the league and if the owners didn't like him or what he was doing he wouldn't be an employee.

It's so hard to be a Flyer's fan in amongst all of this sh*t. They really haven't helped this situation by finding every loophole in the book to drive up contract prices and not win a cup!

Without Bettman there would be about 100 less jobs for players. He has also overseen huge growth in NHL profits. For all the poop the players talk about him, Bettman has been great for the players.

I just wish he would have created those jobs in markets that would truely be able to support them.
