Kane is one guy who isn't going anywhere.

I could see Benn move before I see Kane move. The Jets need him up front to set the tone.

They really lack high end skill and he's well on his way to establishing that skill set....well on his way.

Everyone should be looking at Jamie Benn for an offer sheet; Kane is not in same leaque as Benn

Agreed. Also You already have Galchenyuk(in 1 to 2 years) Pleks, Deharnais, Eller...I would first give Eller the best shot possible before doing anything. They still got guys who need to prove themselves within the organization. Also if I am MB I know that the team isnt going to be a contender next season and that what he is going for. COnsidering his trust in Timmins and his involvement in the Draft I dont think he is going to give away 3 draft picks considering next years draft is supposed to be a good one.

This makes perfect sense try and explain it to your buddy over there.

Agreed. But Joe N seems to have the money and will almost certainly match.

If anyone who has any pull at a NHL team is reading this, I dare you to Offer Sheet Colin Wilson.

Reminder that you have to overpay even more on an offer sheet than you do on a UFA contract, because otherwise you might just be doing the other team a favour.

I think there should be more offer sheets, this "gentleman's agreement" thing most GMs seem to have is pure nonsense.

Is this a serious question?

Because if it is, the Flyers answered it for you. Bit of a "duh" moment there, big guy.

I say we should abolish the salary cap system. It's clearly not working...
- mhp

I'm with you. Get rid of the salary cap and get rid of 2 or 3 teams. Let the strong survive and reward teams that have fans...

Gary... stop rewarding terrible franchises and proping up failing teams!!

leafs are the most valuable franchise in the league, per forbes. Are the leafs stuggling in terms of putting a winning product on the ice, yeah. Are they struggling at the ticket stands, nope.

I wouldn't be surprised if he you see him earn a solid 3rd line role and play on a daily basis with an emphasis on the PK....on the Marlies.

For all of this talk about people giving offer sheets to the Flyers in retaliation, people keep overlooking whether a player even makes it to RFA status. I am sure that when it comes time near the end of Giroux's contract, they will give him an extension before he even gets to be an RFA. The problem with Nashville was they drew out their negotiations too long. They should have locked their guys up long before. They knew both players were going to be offered BIG money. Why is it that they waited for other teams' offers before they matched? They should have offered the big money first and locked them up. By drawing things out, they lost whatever edge they had. If Nashville had offered Suter the money that the Wild threw out there a year earlier, he would still be a Pred.

Why do people even give a poop about offer sheets? They aren't a dirty move. They aren't illegal. It's part of the game. It's not like the team who loses the player comes out of it with nothing.

The only thing I find terrible is the length of the deal. I hope that poop gets shut down with the new CBA. Salary is the same every year, no front loading poop. That's the thing that's hurting the teams the most. There's only a handful of teams that can hand out 20 million a year to a single player.
