If Stan Bowman doesn't have the balls to pull the trigger on a regular trade, how can he have the balls to screw Kevin Cheveldayoff (a former co-worker) with an offer sheet for Evander Kane? - tenaciousdale
Plus, doesn't Winnipeg own the picks Chicago would need as compensation for an offersheet? |

Of course that's what the job involves-thinking. But thinking and doing are two different things. |

So if MTL offer-sheets Evander Kane, does WPG then offer-sheet PK Subban? |

Sure, if Subban wants to play in WPG? Or if Kane wants to play in MTL? Let's all realize that the player would have to want to play in the place he signs in. And let's recognize that Weber was hardly being forced to sign in Philly after he made quiet visits to New York & Detroit. Let's recognize that this is the player's choice before we freak out and feel like someone's about to snatch away our star RFA players at any moment. |

Offer Sheetahpalooza - eichiefs9
Interesting how defensive Flyer fans are getting here when we're not even discussing the Weber sheet. |

They are the only ones who think its not a Richard move. totally legal and within the clubs rights to offer sheet someone but the structure makes it an ass move. What goes around comes around and karma is a mother "f"er! |

Agreed. Just spoke with a 'reliable' source and he is 'probably for sure maybe feels like' there is gonna be no offer sheets signed for 'some short or long or medium' amount of time. E318
PS updated my free agent chart based solely on random probabilities that I assign to each player being traded to 16 different teams.
Please don't forget to sign up for the season tickets to get the full experience and also this gives you a chance to ask me questions and I can answer based solely on my opinion and that of my 'probably very' reliable sources.

Does a Team Saying "We Will Match Any Offer" Kill Offers?
Absolutely not. Its all a "Dog and Pony Show" when you have no idea what contract will be offered. There are some wacky GM's and Owners out there wandering around aimlessly in their NHL offices. Just dieing to spend money!
To bad our owner wasnt one of em. |

I don't think the Hawks have the picks to offer sheet anyone. - InvisibleOrange
They do if it is for a large amount requiring 4 first rounders. They cannot midrange offer him because of the traded draft picks. |

I think Rangers will go hard at Kane if the Flyers land Weber, Gaborik will be out for a couple months to start the year and they won't have to give up any players to get him, just picks..........also expect the Pens to sign Kostitsyn or Sykora for a top 6 upgrade |

Although legal, when it has the potential to do the kind of damage ti a franchise as this does it is not good for hockey as a whole.
If Nashville doesn't match the Flyers are scarey. - Doogs
What damage? |

Any team that offers Kane between 5.05 and 6.73 million (will be at least that for Winnipeg not to match) has to give up a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd, but depending on the team that makes the offer, it may be worth it. The team has to add on another 1st if the offer is upwards of 6.73. Kane isn't worth that, but some owner might throw that much dough at him because of the time of year. The summer is madness. If I'm Montreal I definitely explore the option of signing him to an offer sheet worth 5.5-6.5 mil. |

I will eat my own shiit if that happens.... future one-two punch of Kane-Galchenyuk with Beaulieu feeding them from the back-end... Habs would have a bright future - kovalchukTML
They already do, but adding an offensive juggernaut like Kane would make it so much better. He's a great player who might push for a Sochi 2014 roster spot. |
