And then..
The Sharks have finally jumped in on the action, picking up a 4th rounder for a pending UFA. It's a good deal for the Sharks and Sheppard.
The Sharks 3C was misused in his role and expectations were higher than they should have been. Sheppard will now get a chance to be effective on a Cup contender in a more natural role. ESPN's Pierre LeBrun also tweeted out that the Sharks may have retained some salary in the deal - which isn't really a big deal considering the UFA status/games left.
Update: Per LeBrun...$100K retained to balance the Rangers books.
Sheppard wasn't expected to gather much more than what his actual return was - even in a sellers market like this year's deadline is. The watch is now on for the rest of the UFA's in San Jose.
Will Doug Wilson make more moves? At least this is a start...
