Game Night in Glendale

The Predators remain in the desert as they move from Nevada to Arizona for tonight’s matchup with the Arizona Coyotes. The Predators have been on a weird little run surrounding the holiday after a torrid six weeks that saw the team take over first in the conference.

But since the pre-Christmas western Canada sweep, it’s been a different story. A solid win in St. Louis, a split of a back-to-back with the Wild and a loss to Vegas has them at 2-2 since their fabulous November and most of December. Tonight marks an opportunity to get back on the winning track against a team that they should beat, the Coyotes have been struggling again, but this is a team with a lot of young talent and have risen up to bite some unsuspecting prey.

It’s the first of two visits to Glendale for Nashville and the two points loom large as the three way battle for Central supremacy tightens. A recipe for disaster would be walking into Gila River Arena expecting the Coyotes to just hand over the game with little to no fight. Glendale has not been kind to Nashville as the desert dogs have posted a 5-1-1 record against the Preds in the last seven games the Preds have played in the desert.

Expect Pekka Rinne in net for the Preds, Antti Ranta for the Coyotes. On the injury front, Arizona has Niklas Hjalmarsson and Brad Richardson on IR, the Predators will be without Filip Forsberg. Game time is 8pm CT… pregame gets started at 7pm on 102.5 the Game and 7:30 on Fox Sports Tennessee.
