Jhonas Enroth has had an eventful week after spending most of the summer in limbo. The unrestricted free agent goaltender signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier in the week and on Friday was named to Team Sweden for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey.

The 28-year-old former Buffalo netminder is replacing current Sabres goalie Robin Lehner, who had an injury plagued first season and is still rehabbing an ankle injury.

Enroth is likely the #3 goalie on Sweden’s depth chart with Jacob Markstrom of the Vancouver Canucks moving up as the primary backup to Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who is expected to get the majority of the work during the two-week tournament.

The Maple Leafs announced Friday the roster for the upcoming annual Rookie Tournament in London, Ontario. The club will bring 31 players (19 F, 10 D, 2 G) that will play three games at Budweiser Gardens on September 16-18 against rookies from the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators.

Rookie center Auston Matthews will not take part in the tournament, as the 18-year-old top overall pick will be participating in the World Cup of Hockey as a member of Team North America.

First rounders Frederik Gauthier and Mitch Marner headlines the group of forwards, along with 2014 second rounder Jeremy Bracco and Swedish products Dmytro Timashov and Andreas Johnson.

2015 Draft selections Travis Dermott, Andrew Nielsen will be looking to make a favorable impression and try to move ahead of second-year pros like Rinat Valiev on the Leafs organizational depth chart.

On this day 65 years ago, Leafs defenseman Bill Barilko and dentist Henry Hudson lost their lives in a plane crash returning from a fishing trip. Barilko scored the winning goal for the Leafs in the 1951 Stanley Cup Final, Toronto's fourth Cup victory in five seasons.
