The Montreal Canadiens have Promoted Eric Crawford to replace Vince Karpan as their Director of Pro Scouting. Karpan recently left the Habs to join the new Las Vegas organization.

Crawford is the brother of Ottawa Senators Associate Coach Marc Crawford. He has experience in various roles of the game through his 16 years with the Vancouver Canucks organization. From Assistant Coach to Director of Player Personnel to Pro Scout to Director of Pro Scouting, Crawford has worn many hats and succeeded. He is a solid choice as an in-house promotion and well-deserving of this opportunity.

In other news, newcomer Shea Weber was named an alternate captain for Team Canada at the upcoming World Cup of Hockey while the man he was traded for was snubbed once again as Jay Bouwmeester was named as a replacement for the injured Duncan Keith.

Even with the Keith injury I did not think that Subban would be named. Nobody seems to be mentioning the fact that Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin is an Assistant with Team Canada. Bergevin and the Team Canada brass have very similar ideas on how they want hockey to be played and unfortunately for Subban fans, he does not make their cut. Considering the World Cup is a marketing ploy by the NHL to make money and grow the game of hockey by assembling the world’s best, not having Subban play is a true shame. He is a terrific ambassador for the sport and it would have been a great opportunity for him to shine. In all fairness though and based on last season, I believe that Kris Letang deserved to be named to the team.

Cheers & follow along!
