In this edition of the hotstove we share our picks for the best defense pairing(s) in the Eastern Conference.

The Zach Werenski - Seth Jones pairing and I don't think it's close.
Both guys are outstanding and have everything you look for in a modern-day defensemen. They're elite skaters, they're smart, they move the puck effectively, they can quarterback a power play, they generate lots of shots, they drive possession, they keep tight gaps in the neutral zone and they possess the speed and skating ability to pivot and win races to the puck after they force dump-ins.
They can do it all, which the

Though Columbus has struggled of late, I think they can give anyone a run for their money in a playoff series and this pairing is the biggest reason why. They're capable of providing the Jackets with 25+ minutes of near-perfect hockey.
Peter Tessier
It would be hard to ignore the Jones Werenski pairing simply because they are the backbone of the Columbus team and also lead all pairings in CF%.
In fact they stand so far ahead and above other pairs it might not even be a contest as those two are the envy of teams across the league. However to be fair honouarable mention has to go to Chara and MacAvoy, Hanafin and Van Riemsdyk, Dumoulin and Letang, and finally Pesce and Slavin.
