Quick hits from my annual vacation week with the in laws in Florida...but getting a ton of texts so here goes...
* The Sharks have extended Brent Burns for 8 years at 8 million per...
* The Lightning are indeed putting feelers out as they are planning on using the money saved while Stamkos is recovering to improve their fortunes...One source compared it to Chicago saying..."The Hawks have used injuries in the past to help them load up..."
* Unrelated....As has been well documented, the Flyers have two solid goalies, but both are pending UFA's and while most believe they will make a contract pitch for one prior to the season's end, for the first time I am hearing the Flyers brass is also eyeing Tampa's Ben Bishop and could turn that way. "I'd say there is at least a 50% chance that Bishop is a Flyer next year. They are an attractive young team and will back up the truck for a solid #1."
That said, I would not put that number quite so high...but it does appear to be gaining some momentum...The Flyers love Mason and Neuvirth.
* There is a ton of talk that the Leafs are intensifying their efforts with Shattenkirk....The Bruins and Habs are also still in on this should the Blues decide to pull the trigger...
