A few quick hits here...

On Lee Stempniak...

I am hearing the Coyotes are close to bringing back Lee...which would probably be the best fit for all involved.. Today I spent an hour chasing a rumor that the Canadiens may have approached Stempniak as well...no denials, which is very interesting in this particular case.

On Guerin and the Penguins...

Andy Strickland is reporting the Penguins are soon going to alert Bill Guerin if they will be able to bring him back. I am hearing it's between Guerin, Kariya, and another forward they would acquire via trade...

On Kovalchuk....

Very close still. As I reported yesterday my hunch was we would know something in 24 hours. later in the day it came out why I was reporting this...the NHL and the NJ Devils were meeting to go through some possibilities with the new contract...
