Just talked to a source who confirmed what several others had been hinting at...Jason Spezza will be dealt at the NHL draft and all roads for such a deal go through Toronto. People around Spezza have made it widely known for years how Jason wants to be a Leaf at some point, and now, as he enters his final year of his contract with Ottawa, the time may be right for the Sens to make this move.
There was a time when we rarely would have even mentioned a trade between such close rivals, and while that may play into this it is far from a certainty. The Sens could indeed move Spezza elsewhere and move him out of the division or even out of the conference....but in the Leafs they have a partner who could give them more back because the Leafs could then begin to negotiate an extension with Spezza before he hits the UFA market and give him a longer deal then anywhere else.
The question would be what would the Sens want back. My source today says he believe Kadri would be included in any deal.

The NHL has come down hard on the Blackhawks Brent Seabrook for his hit in Saturday's game on Blues captain David Backes, suspending the Chicago defenseman the next three games.
