Just talked to a source at the NHL who has had several discussions regarding the Washington Capitals and reportedly the Caps could be prepping to put an forth enormous offer for Ilya Bryzgalov should the team fall short of "anything shy of a Conference Final appearance."

"Teams are always looking at contingency plans, and word is Alex Ovechkin has been quietly capaigning behind the scenes for Ilya Bryzgalov this summer."

Of course the Yotes will also put forward their best offer for Bryzgalov. Truth be told if there is a team out there who needs 1 player more than the Coyotes need Ilya...well, I can't name one.

The issues with the ownership transfer in Phoenix are once again keeping everyone in "hurry up and wait" mode, while rumors persist of a Winnipeg group who is more than ready, willing, and able to bring the team home to the Great White North.

One Winnipeg source actually called me late last night and left a message stating he was suddenly "the most optimistic he has been to date about bringing the Jets back to Manitoba."

More to come...
