The Hockeybuzzcast with Ek and Julie Returns at 5pm ET

Updated...Schneider is a done deal for draft picks only. What will Montreal do next? This could be the deal to open the door....with Tanguay returning...the Cap will be an issue.

Also, how does Atlanta pull this deal off without taking any money back? by my calculations they are below the floor.

Ok...so a few quick points:

* Mike Green...The man deserves a serious tip of the helmet. As I have said many, many times, Ovechkin is phenomenal, but when you face the Capitals, it is Green that scares the hell out of you. He is the most important cog in the wheel and also the reason that I feel the Caps to be the most dangerous team in the East and the most likely to be competing for a Stanley Cup this June.

* The Ottawa Senators...Seriously I have been hard on them, but what a difference a coach--wait, I mean "a GOALIE makes." All kidding aside, the play of Elliot has showed us all the importance of goaltending in many ways. And how the confidence a team has in its goalie has an enormous trickle down effect. The Sens go from "a team with one good line that is soft" to "a team with one dominant line that is full of young potential." This year's Canadiens are very much learning this, but I am not worried.

* Dom Moore...Has seen his stock continue to rise with the Canucks looking the most likely to make the biggest push. As the Mats Sundin train rolls into Ontario this week it could get very interesting.

* Olli Jokinen...Are the Coyotes shopping him? No. But as is the case with Giguere they sure are listening, and the teams with the most interest are the teams that have inquired the most in his Florida days. Miinesota, Edmonton, NJ, Montreal, and Buffalo. I have heard of a MAJOR package deal that involves at least two of those teams where Morris and Jokinen would be moved.

* The NY Rangers...Hmmm. Tough times in NY, but again an example of the subtle difference between being VERY good and VERY bad. The Rangers should be adding Mr. Avery soon and I hear it is possible that the Stars will be taking a fairly high-priced d-man off of their hands to do so. Then add maybe another leader aka Tkachuk or Guerin and as bad as it feels right now with Lunqvist it is never terrible.

* Zach Parise...First star of the week in the NHL this week and maybe the most exciting forward to ever wear a Devils jersey. There are also folks that are comparing him to the best American born hockey players to EVER play the game.

more to come the Schneider trade I have been talking about...the minor deal to set up another major habs deal just happened...
