Saturday Rumors: Oilers leave Heatley. Gagne? Kessel? Plus Quick Hits |

So it was pretty widely reported yesterday that the Oilers came out and officially decided to move on from this Heatley saga. I give them credit for sticking it out as long as they did, but I also am told that "you can never say never" and when we get close to training camp if Heatley is still a Senator and the Oilers haven't filled the needed holes, well anything is possible.
So what's next?
Three players I am hearing this morning...
1. Kessel
Now many sources and the general underlying belief on the inside is that a deal that would send Kessel to San Jose is done and just waiting on the Sharks to finish up their cap space clearing. However, this all may be in jeopardy if the Oilers get involved in this game. Kessel's speed added to what I feel is already the fastest team in hockey in Edmonton could truly be something special.
2. Tanguay
Then there is everyone's favorite rumored player. While it would make some sense, I don't get a strong indication that the Oilers are super high on Tanguay...
3. Afinogenov
A pretty big drop off, but Max would be a nice fit with Hemsky.
Then there are the longshots. The main one is Simon Gagne. The Oilers are very high on Simon and the Flyers may be somewhat open to a cap clearing move if they indeed are interested in the likes of Bertuzzi and Sykora. However, I haven't heard any indication that the Flyers would move Gagne.
Quick Hits:
* Speaking of Bertuzzi, it looks like the Leafs are not interested.
* I am also hearing that the Devils are talking trade with LA. Not certain who is involved yet. I will keep checking.
* I say this at great risk to my personal soul, but the Rangers may be thinking of ways to get back in on Heatley.
* The Sabres have interest in MA Bergeron.
