As the dust clears this morning it is time to get onto the rumors...and they have been in high gear during this Final. I don't talk rumors about players while the games are still ongoing, but the reality is, we are exactly 11 days from the Draft...and this coming Draft is setting up as a perfect storm of sorts. I think we should be prepared to witness as crazy of a few days as we have ever seen with some HUGE names in play...
Malkin Leaving Pittsburgh.
This is the word. The talk here is that both sides feel the time to move on has come. It's a business decision for the Pens and Malkin himself needs to get to a situation where he can be "the guy." The difficulty here is that Malkin controls where he can go and has the ability to limit the possible destinations and according to a source "the places in which he has shown interest so far are all in big cap trouble." So this will take creativity. I am hearing the Kings, the Wild, and Chicago are the early favorites...I don't believe the Penguins want to move him to the East... This will get interesting though and my sources say he may open up to other possibilities and the "Penguins will talk to anyone who is interested" and then try and convince Geno...
Even if a deal can't get done this WILL be the buzz at the Draft. I guarantee that.
Fleury to Calgary (e4)
Marc Andre Fleury is too good of a goalie to be a backup and Murray has solidified himself as the goalie of the future. I honestly think MAF will thrive in a new environment and I expect to see him return to All-Star form. Calgary is interested and the perfect fit in many ways. Dallas will also look at MAF, but Pitt would have to help them out by taking back Niemi...I don't think that happens...
Stamkos Deadline?
Also, I am hearing reports of a deadline coming for a decision on Stamkos in Tampa...one source says that time could come as early as Wednesday the 22nd.
