The word out of theDevils todday, is the team is fine demoting a player to the minors, like Dainus Zubrus....The word from the rest of the NHL appears to be that this is more connected to the Devils not wanting to be "held ransom" right now. The Devils would much prefer to make a move here.
One thing is certain, we will know in less than 24 hours if they are serious. For the Devils to send down Zubrus and clear his money in time he would need to be placed on waivers tomorrow. He was not today.
Meanwhile the Canucks are looking like a team that could be about to make a move as well. Yesterday, they sent down O'Brien and ..(both cleared today) but sources feel they still could make a move in thee next 24 hours. I would continue to look at Cory Schneider..very closely...because...
The Flyers have let Bill Guerin go from his tryout. Talking to people in the organization, this was a tough, tough call, and I wouldn't be shocked if Guerin hooks on with another team, if he wants to play elsewhere.. He showed great veteran leadership in camp for sure and some Flyers players I talked to felt his presence was "sorely needed."
more to come this afternoon, including my picks for the Northwest Division
