Matthieu Schneider is a lesser expensive stopgap the Isles are considering as well.

More to come in the morning on this, but I am told the NY Islanders Mark Streit's injury is one that may force the isles to pull the trigger sooner than later...

As an aside, the Oilers are looking really impressive in pre-season and quickly becoming a "team you have to watch play if they are on." Tonight, they disposed of a admittedly sparse version of the Vancouver Canucks, but put up a snowman on the Nucks in an 8-2 trouncing.

Khabibulin looked strong, and Cory Schneider was the victim for all eight Oilers goals and the Oil line of Hall, Eberle, and Horcoff was at times as dazzling as anything we have seen on Edmonton since, well you know...

It's early...but it must be fun to be an Edmonton fan again..
