Let's start with some interesting goalie rumors....

Right now, there are essentially three teams aggressively looking for goalies...

On Toronto....

There have been some rumors over the past few days that the Leafs were interested in Tim Thomas before Thomas' plans of taking some time off became news, however I am continually being inundated still with Luongo to Toronto rumors. In fact over the last 24 hours I have had discussions with quite a few insiders saying they are hearing it may be almost a foregone conclusion..,One source adding "There is now an 80% chance Luongo is dealt to the Leafs at the draft" and even adding "Komisarek would be included in any deal."

Another source chimed in, "There are already some high up in Toronto who see this move as 'a move the organization simply MUST make at this point.'"

I put some of this out on twitter last night and of course Leaf fans and Canucks fans were up in arms about it all. Some saying, "Komisarek was too much to give up," many more saying, "why would the Canucks take back Komisarek?"

The reality of the Luongo situation is they Canucks MUST deal him. When a player comes out and says he wants out, especially a goalie, you really can't keep him around as a even a backup, and with such a huge contract behind Luongo along with the limited amount of teams looking for a goalkeeper the return will not be huge and Vancouver will have to take back a big contract as well.

Those saying Luke Schenn or Gardiner are truly way off base I am told.

Those saying there will be a bidding war need to realize the other teams are not interested in Luongo and have already turned their attention elsewhere...

On Chicago...

The Hawks are a team to look for in the goalie sweeps, but not for a big money/long term fix...rather a stopgap. Yes, they already have two goalies under contract, but they really don't see either goalie being their answer. The goalie I keep hearing associated with Chicago is Vokoun. And it makes a ton of sense. Vokoun has had offers from the KHL, but not taken them yet. I believe he believes Chicago wants him...but of course nothing can be done, or officially discussed until July 1.

On Tampa...

This is an interesting one. Early in there was a belief they would go after Luongo, but as noted before, unless Vancouver is willing to swap Luongo for Lecavalier the Lightning have no interest. Also remember Steve Yzerman is from the "Detroit School of Lower Paid Goalies."

The goalie I have heard most associated with Tampa is Minnesota's Josh Harding. Although some sources say Vokoun may be in the mix, as well as a possible trade that could bring Antii Niemi to Tampa.

I have also heard the Devils have interest in Harding.

With 1 Day to Go the EA Sports race for the Cover is Heated.

You can vote through Monday, June 4th, but sources tell me that the Final showdown between Claude Giroux and Pekka Rinne, to see who gets the cover of NHL 13, is extremely close with voting ending tomorrow. According to some Rinne may actually be leading. Have you voted yet?

I honestly love both these players, but in the end what Claude Giroux would have to be my pick..Claude has become to me is a bona fide superstar and remembering what he accomplished this season and in the Penguins series alone is what pushes him over the top...in my opinion. But you can't go wrong with Rinne as well. I just think given the choice....Giroux by a hair.

If you feel strongly about this and would like to vote you can VOTE HERE for Giroux or Rinne
