Gaborik to Montreal (e3), more rumours, and Toskala is Amazing

There are many folks out there who are under the impression that the Minnesota Wild are going to wait on Gaborik.

Trust me on this one. I have talked to the people involved. The Wild will NOT be waiting. They will NOT allow the price to go down over the course of the season. They will NOT risk a Gaborik injury.

The Canadiens are talking to the Wild about this deal and IF it goes down, Higgins will NOT be the sticking point. He will be in the deal. The Habs don't WANT to trade Higgins. He is a leader and a star. He is a key component to their team. The thing is...Gaborik is better.

The ONLY issue here is simple. Does Gaborik want to sign longterm in Montreal, and if he doesn't, what kind of alternate compensation can be worked out? The Canadiens see Gaborik as a piece that will bring Cup to them in their 100th season. They are trying to make it happen.

That is what I am being told. Plain and simple.

Also, I am hearing more and more that Khabibulin will be sent to the AHL, and the Hawks will make a trade that will bring Mike Comrie to Chicago from the Isles. Currently the Isles aren't happy with Comrie who is buried on the third and fourth line.

The valid question is how can a guy who is not producing on a lesser team going to step into the second line center role in Chicago?

Comrie is a player who needs a good situation in which to thrive. We saw more from Comrie, for example, during the Sens Cup Final run...

Last night I was watching the Leafs/Rangers game and was simply blown away by Toskala and many of the upstart Leafs. I have to say, for the first time in several years, I really enjoy watching the Leafs play. Last night's game was a lot of fun to watch as the Leafs went 0-0 into a shootout with the Rangers...

Here's a rare prediction for you...The Flyers will get their first win tonight against the Sharks.

Talking to some of the players in the last 24 hours I really get the sense that tonight they are going to break out of this. The lines have been shifted to be more like the lines that the Flyers had in last year's playoffs with Danny Briere returning to center. That is important. Also the line of Carter, Lupul, and Upshall is together again. Smart moves by Stevens. If this doesn't work the Flyers may be forced to make a deal that would send a big forward south for a big defenseman.
